Eh.. I’m certain the LYN student section on the track was chirping themselves.. quiet cool, win like it’s expected is a thing of the past.

I think it’s pretty indicative of the school culture. I mean their basketball team wins the national championship on a buzzer beater and they have 3-4 guys running across court to wave goodbye and shoosh opposing fans rather than celebrate with their teammates.

last weeks topic, but was talked about in the CNU thread.. but majority of college teams have done this, lacrosse, basketball, football etc, and even in the professionals. Not sure when so many people became soft all of a sudden. Kind of concerning. This post was in the CNU thread of LYN doing the same thing to WL bench in OT. Also, LYN side line celebrations are out of control.
“ If you’re going to be ranting at CNU for their “taunting” and poor sportsmanship then you have to do the same to Lynchburg. Here’s a link to their OT winner a week ago: https://twitter.com/dkaplan46/status/16 ... 62561?s=20
#43 in the bottom right corner showboats in front of the whole W&L team and coaches as they go to console their goalie.
I could pull up some videos of other top teams showing poor sportsmanship as well if you’d like?
The point is, #43 on Lyn doing that doesn’t bother me because it’s college sports and players play with a competitive spirit(something you clearly don’t understand).
If you want to watch kids shake hands and congratulate the other team for scoring a goal then go watch your local U8 lacrosse team.”

If it makes you feel better apparently Koudelka made #43 write a letter to the W&L staff apologizing for his behavior. You can’t always control 18-22 year olds, but you can teach them.Oaklax wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 1:47 pmInsiderRoll wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 9:11 am I think it’s pretty indicative of the school culture. touché, didn’t know that but that’s something coach K would do. Regardless, 18-22 year olds trash talk and taunt, then shake hands and say good game afterwards. Nature of any game. Not sure if anything was done behind the scenes or not in this situation.

As you said, you can’t control 18-22 year olds. Emotions are all over the place when you hit a game winner in a big game. To think that 18-22 year olds are going to act completely normal and go straight to the handshake line is beyond insane.
If you’re going to s**t on their culture that you know so much about, then you should also talk about all of the mental health awareness fundraisers and events they do. Or how about money they raised for Black organizations on campus. What a terrible school “culture” they have.. right??
Sorry for my rant. Just tired of people attacking CNU without knowing anything about their program except for they like to talk trash at times(who doesn’t?)
Re: Game of the week
Anyone see Marylands celebration after beating Ohio state in OT? Maryland players shushing and waving to OSU bench. Does this mean Maryland has a classless culture? Point is it’s obvious during an intense and competitive game between rivals it is common for college kids to show a lot of emotion after winning a big game. No reason to criticize culture in these sorts of situations.Laxguy703 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 2:29 pmAnd what makes you think Thompson didn’t talk his team for how they acted against Lynchburg?InsiderRoll wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 1:54 pmIf it makes you feel better apparently Koudelka made #43 write a letter to the W&L staff apologizing for his behavior. It looked like one player. The 30 yr old freshman that scored the goal. Nice to see some of the coaches pull him aside and settle him down before the handshake line.BigMoose9 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:23 pmAnyone see Marylands celebration after beating Ohio state in OT? Re: Game of the week
Let's be serious. 18-22 year olds are not 13-14 year olds. By 18-22, they are young adults who either have or have not learned to control their emotions. This learning process starts much earlier than college. It starts with the parents and family and then with youth, school and club coaches. If they haven't learned it, they need to. I wonder how many of those "kids" taunting fans etc. after games were told when they were younger that if they ever did something like that again, they were sitting the next game or two. I wonder how many have told teammates to stop when their behavior crosses the line? And you can often (not always) get a good bit of insight from the parents' behavior in the stands.
And I am not talking about trash talking during the game as long as it doesn't cross certain lines (i.e. race). Plenty of players trash talk all game and then give a pat on the helmet after the game telling the opponent he's a helluva player (quite the opposite from what is said during the game). And I am also not saying that on any given day in any given situation any 18-22 couldn't act out or act out of character. Look for patterns - in players and programs.

Re: Game of the week
Trash talk is part of sports, but it’s fair for people to draw the line at taunting right in opponent’s faces/mocking them directly. Beyond it being obnoxious as hell, it’s also a very easy way to ensure that things escalate from trash talk to actual fights. There’s a reason direct taunting is a penalty system every level of competitive sports, and it’s not “the softies can’t handle expressions of competitive spirit!”
Also broadly agree with what laxrealist just said.

Re: Game of the week
Sometimes I don’t think people understand just how much trash talk comes from fans and sometimes the players simply respond in the moment. Trash talk exists in all sports it is part of being a competitor. While not everyone does it that does not mean that it is always bad. What I struggle with is when parents get involved, kids are one thing but parents doing it I feel crossed a line. Most of the time you do not hear want us being said between players and it is usually just kids competing.
