Sometimes IL or USILA put 4 players/position, sometimes 3. I'm gonna make it easier on myself and do 4 for now.
First Team:
Attack:
CJ Kirst (Cornell)
Connor Shellenberger (UVA)
Pat Kavanagh (ND)
Brennan O'Neill (Duke)
Midfield:
Matt Campbell (Villanova)
Sam Handley (Penn)
Thomas McConvey (UVA)
Ryan Bell (Providence)
FO:
Jake Naso (Duke)
LSM:
Roy Meyer (BU)
SSDM:
Connor Maher (UNC)
Defense:
Gavin Adler (Cornell)
Brett Makar (Maryland)
Ajax Zapitello (Maryland)
Will Bowen (Georgetown)
Goalie:
Will Mark (Syracuse)
Will Bowen's stats this season don't warrant his inclusion.
please.... expound.
After 7 games, Bowen only has 9 ground balls. Adler has 31. Bowen has 13 CTs - Adler has 9 CTs. Adler has 6 turnovers vs 1 for Bowen. That's indicative that Adler is scrapping for loose balls.
ok. i haven't seen a lot of g'town bc of their slow start and flosports. mostly, i look @ matchups when i can watch. was he on mule for lehigh? lot of his other matchups by the stats, which in fairness u mentioned, seem like could be he held his down. when i've seen g'town with him, like adler matchups don't seem willing to take him on often, and he also covers a lot in the sliding scheme. a la adler. plus adler is the 1st name on the list and bowen last, he's there already? maybe not for molo, but i know aa is listed in order of who got the most votes.
so checo > adler? those cto #s are a day or 2 @ the office for him.
I think I'm still disappointed that Adler didn't receive the Schmeisser Award last season.
i get it.
important to note that (i believe) voting is still done pre-nc$$. so at the beginning-ish of adler going crazy and locking down everything and with a platform. and for the stats freaks, slightly lower #s at that point.
also... usila tends to reward:
top teams' players
previous accolades
both of which put adler behind the eight ball. the good news is, adler will maybe be on a lot more equal footing this year vs others in those categories, plus the '22 nc$$ playoffs will be seared into coaches' minds. i'm not even sure all the coaches vote on this stuff, but i'm 100 they don't see anywhere near everyone's games. and i'd bet most watch most all of the playoffs, even if they don't admit it.
