The box score I was looking at from the ND website shows only 8 subs for the game.TNLAX wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:34 pm according to the box score, ND played 14 subs. (non-starters). To me that seems like a good number of girls coming off the bench who usually don't see a lot of playing time.
looked at the Syracuse and Virginia games and ND only played 7 subs in each of those games.

This always seems to me to be a debate in which everyone is right:Brownlax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:29 pmI don't love it when coaches keep their starters in when it is a running clock. Get your other players some quality playing time. You may need them later in the season.njbill wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 10:44 am Small nit, but Kenney is shown in the box score as being a sub. It was her only goal of the day and her sixth of the season.
I think you are being unfair to Choma, accusing her of stat padding. I don’t think a third goal scored with 10 minutes to go in a game that had been relatively competitive (three goal lead) well into the third quarter constitutes stat padding. If you do, then we disagree about that.
This is big kid lacrosse and playing to score to the very end is OK;
Coaches want starters in the game, even in uneven games, to work on points of emphasis and get things right;
Lopsided wins are a good place to get the "second team" into the game, experiment with and see new players, and rest starters and avoid injury.
I thought Brown was a pretty good team, feisty and pretty tough, if not at the same caliber as the Domers. So I felt like H'Penny could conduct a very good, competitive "practice" for her starters.
Re: Live Game Action
Easy explanation: I was looking at the Brown box score/roster . My mistake, sorry about that and thanks for the catch.Brownlax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:59 pmThe box score I was looking at from the ND website shows only 8 subs for the game.TNLAX wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:34 pm according to the box score, ND played 14 subs. Re: Live Game Action
Actually, Brown played 14 subs - ND played 9 subs. ND usually subs about 5 players in a tighter game - so, ND really only brought in ~4 players who typically do not see the field.

I'm not going to go back and forth - the ND Box score shows 8 subs coming off the bench for ND. The bottom line is - and it's my opinion only - I'd like to see coaches get more kids in the game when they can. If you have a running clock - empty your bench. If it starts to get closer - add in a few stronger players. I know coaches are playing to win - but they should also remember how precious those minutes are for kids who don't normally get in.
Re: Live Game Action
I agree with you totally here. It is a team, and all the kids show up for practices and take care of their school work. The objective is to win, but when a victory is in hand, clear the bench, reward the girls on the team who don't get to play all the time with some field time. It builds a great team when the starters can be cheering on the role players. Plus why take the chance of a starter getting injured when the game is already decided? Plus there is nothing like game experience for younger players to grow.Brownlax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 2:44 pmhttps://und.com/wp-content/uploads/2023 ... .27.23.pdf

I am not going to go back and forth - while going back and forth, but the box score from the ND schedule link says 9 subs?Brownlax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 2:44 pmhttps://und.com/wp-content/uploads/2023 ... .27.23.pdf

Cornell at Cuse. No Carney in lineup altho she is in uniform. Hoping for decent game and not a blow out early.Sunnylax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 4:47 pm+100!Brownlax wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 2:44 pmhttps://und.com/wp-content/uploads/2023 ... .27.23.pdf

Re: Live Game Action
Bummed and concerned, no Carney. These commentators can't slide over to the bench to get a little scoop on that anymore than any of us can.
Re: Live Game Action
Wasn't Markey rocketing downfield, it was Nattie, dishing nicely too.

Geezuz H, that's just too pretty.

Like to see more production from Cockerille, Smith and Markey. And Baxter too. A lot of talent there.
Like that.

Baxter and Smith on the draw, love that.
Baxter to Smith + speed = goal. Nice.

Re: Live Game Action
Can't remember the loud one's name, swore she said Butz flashes through the middle earlier in the game. Am certain of it now, she just used that word again. Not thinking Butz flashing is a description she should be using.

Re: Live Game Action
Third quarter, I will allow it. Looking at this game and comparing it to ND leaving their starters in, seems like the entire Cuse line up starting the 4th was all back ups. Interesting how different coaches handle it
Re: Live Game Action
Not seeing Baxter getting reps and experience at the draw as a bad thing at pretty much anytime in the game.
