Re: My top 25
So Duke seems to be a popular top-5 pick for alot of (most) media types. In some polls they’re even at #2 or #3. Do not understand them being ranked that high. They lost to Jax, and their only high-quality win is Loyola (and even that one is starting to lose some luster). They beat Penn by two goals, Denver in OT at home, and Syracuse in OT.
Perhaps they will be exposed this Friday… UVa has another historically good team, maybe that’s what it’ll take to overcome two decades of history.

Boy, I don't know , 9-1 and their only loss by 1 goal to my #9 team. That's a pretty good resume.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:18 pm So Duke seems to be a popular top-5 pick for alot of (most) media types. In some polls they’re even at #2 or #3. According to Lacrosse Reference, Duke and UVA are the two teams that are now "locks" for the NCAA tournament.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:18 pm So Duke seems to be a popular top-5 pick for alot of (most) media types. Duke is certainly a very good team, and tournament-worthy. And Danowski always loads up in scheduling to pump up Duke’s RPI, so good for him for playing that game. But in terms of being one of the top two or three teams in the country… To me, UVa, Maryland, Notre Dame, and Cornell have separated themsleves to some degree, and have also played pretty tough schedules. There’s the threesome of games between the former three, and Cornell has played Penn State and Ohio State. Duke may be in that next tier, but before the Rutgers shocker, I would have said the Knights and Villanova have better resumes at this point.faircornell wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:43 pmAccording to Lacrosse Reference, Duke and UVA are the two teams that are now "locks" for the NCAA tournament.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:18 pm So Duke seems to be a popular top-5 pick for alot of (most) media types. Re: My top 25
Friday's Duke vs UVA game in Charlottesville should tell a lot. I have no dog in that fight. It's encouraging for me that you include Cornell in the top four or five teams. The Big Red still have a lot of wood to chop with (at least) Army, Princeton and the rest of the Ivy season/Tournament coming up.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 10:51 pmDuke is certainly a very good team, and tournament-worthy. Re: My top 25
I don’t understand eye test Cornell over ND. ND has lopsided wins over teams ( osu, MI, Marquette ) that all have good wins themselves. And ND has a win over MD. Cornell resume looks different to me
Re: My top 25
Maryland is not the same team from the earlier part of the season. They show incredible growth (coaching) since the beginning of the season, therefore they are an ascending team which needs to be looked at when ranking the teams.

Good list
Based on eye, recency bias
Maryland
UVA
Cornell
Duke
ND
Nova
Army
UNC
PSU
Hop
Rutgers
Jax
Gtown
Denver
OSU
Penn
Boston U
Loyola
Cuse
Princeton
1st ten generally impress, 10-20 really don't, some not listed could alternate weekly with 15-20 grouping ie Del, Yale, St Joes and others

before being corrected, 11-20
Re: My top 25
I have Jacksonville over Gtown based on overall resume, but based on eye-test? Gtown averaging 16.25 gpg in their last 4 and Jacksonville just gave up 15 to .... Mercer.stupefied wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:32 am Good list

Re: My top 25
Yes. I get your reasoning and agree that Jax is probably a few slots too high but im already given much benefit of doubt to GTown at #13 n their d giving up 15 to Lehigh raises questions again. As I posted 11-20 group doesn't impress and expect their order to rearrange weekly.rolldodge wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:36 amI have Jacksonville over Gtown based on overall resume, but based on eye-test? Re: My top 25
So funny enough, Foy has Duke at #1, then Maryland at #2, above both UVa and Notre Dame. Cornell seems to be everyone’s pick at #5.
Re: My top 25
Foy is basically just trolling UVa fans at this point. Good work if you can get it I guess. Tell us more about your West Virginia trip…MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:10 pm So funny enough, Foy has Duke at #1, then Maryland at #2, above both UVa and Notre Dame. Re: My top 25
That's a very fair ranking for Cornell at this point in the season. Baring a signifiant upset game (or unexpectedly lopsided) game within the Top Five, an Ivy Team has little evidence that it's better than a leading ACC or Big Ten team. If Cornell keeps the standard of play that they showed against Yale and Penn, some people might award them a higher ranking based on dominance of play and an "eye ball" assessment of Cornell's performance.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:10 pm So funny enough, Foy has Duke at #1, then Maryland at #2, above both UVa and Notre Dame. Re: My top 25
Cornell is most deserving of their rank .In finals last year and arguably better. IVY as whole has slipped but they haven't. No unbeatens, they were caught off guard early by PSU, a team most didn't see coming just as UMD did vs Loyola , Duke vs Jacksonville etc etc . On any given Sunday . BigRed are well rounded with few weaknesses and have leading candidates for Tewarrton and Schmeisser. There is a big five at least in play , not just four.
