Also fair. But that's why they play the games. They'll have another chance against UVa in a few weeks.

Carcaterra finished today with 1,357 sentences finished with "Right?" Nails on a chalkboard.
Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
Had the game on mute for the whole time only to return to the very inane "how would you rank the top 3??" conversation. was a mistake.

Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
Some serious mental gymnastics to put both UVa and ND ahead of the Terps. I’m sure if the Terps played ND at this point in the season, they would win just as comfortably as UVa did.
That being said, par for the course with those clowns. And anyways with this Terps team, rankings are irrelevant.
Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
Is it arguable? Sure. But mental gymnastics? No. You can make a reasonable argument for UVA and ND in front of Maryland.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:39 pmSome serious mental gymnastics to put both UVa and ND ahead of the Terps. Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
When they're close and they all have a win over one of the others, think it makes sense to have somewhat of a recency bias when ranking them.
1. Virginia
2. Maryland
3. Notre Dame
1. Virginia
2. Maryland
3. Notre Dame

Maryland just beat UVa at their place. The justification was that Maryland lost to Loyola in early February. Anyone who has watched them at all in the last few weeks knows they are a completely different (and much better) team offensively.rolldodge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:47 pmIs it arguable? Sure. And Carc is making the exact opposite argument that he used to justify ND getting into the tournament last year - that all games should or should not be considered equally.
So yeah… mental gymnastics.
Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
His particular logic may be convoluted, but you can make a logical argument based on body of work this season for UVA and Notre Dame over UMD. Marylands wins other than UVA are not that strong, plus they have two losses. Princeton-Yale result today helps them though.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:51 pmMaryland just beat UVa at their place. I wouldn't even say it would require mental tai chi. These three teams all beat each other, with two games in overtime. One team also has an additional loss.rolldodge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:56 pmHis particular logic may be convoluted, but you can make a logic argument based on body of work this season for UVA and Notre Dame over UMD. Have to give the defending national champions the benefit of the doubt, which means Notre Dame will remain at No. 1
Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
A Maryland win over Penn State today would definitely make their case stronger. Lose though and it’s no longer arguable.rolldodge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:56 pmHis particular logic may be convoluted, but you can make a logical argument based on body of work this season for UVA and Notre Dame over UMD. Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
Carc says “Maryland beat uva with a spectacular goalie save”.. but makes no mention that technically, UMD beat ND in regulation since ND tying goal dove in the crease and landed well before the ball crossed the goal. He’s all biased against UMD omitting some facts and remembering other facts that fit his emotion. UMD led most of the game vs UVA and ND. That said … UVA and UMD have better coaches than ND and are therefore basically tied for 1st .

Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
Let me state it another way. A reasonable person could certainly make a reasonable argument for UVa, ND, and the Terps as 1/2/3. Carc is not reasonable, and is clearly biased. He will use one set of logic for ND to make the tournament, then the exact opposite logic to rank them above the Terps.Gatsby wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:58 pmI wouldn't even say it would require mental tai chi. Carc can’t forgive UMD 2022 arguably being the best lacrosse team ever and definitely the best team in the modern clock shot era. It drives him nuts.

Re: UVA at Notre Dame Saturday 12 Noon
I mean who cares who is 1,2 or3 right now? It will all change again as these teams move through conference play. Maryland is either 1, 2or 3 and a high likelihood to be there Memorial Day. Why worry about piddling stuff?MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:51 pmMaryland just beat UVa at their place. The justification was that Maryland lost to Loyola in early February.
