RMC 14 SU 9
CNU 17 W&L 12
Don't think either of these games will be close, I hope I get proven wrong in the W&L game

W&L is going to give CNU fits if they can win some FO’s and keep TOS down.
Hubbard probably need to face Cook or SSDM deny him.
Watch #47 Jackson’s lefty rip and play good position team D and goalie play. I think CNU defense is softer than last year so offense needs to shoot well (a thorn in their side in big games…)
The Gennies are capable but CNU pulls away in 2nd half.
LYN has all week to prepare for them. Like so many games between LYN and W&L is expect a 1 or 2 goal game..
Also expect a physical and chippy game with probable ODAC tourney host on the line..
I have seen both play in person this season. W&L has a better defense. CNU has a better offense. But when you look at the head to head. CNU offense is better than W&L defense. Which means CNU will put up some goals. I am guessing between 13-18. Can W&L match that? Or will take a complete game. Like someone said, they have been starting slow.Dehuntshigwa’es wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:36 am Hoping you are correct on the W&L / CNU contest. The Ssdm for W&L have been outstanding to date this will be a major test. Gennies need to get CNU well below 70% on face offs more like into the 50% plus range. Cabaniss draws over 50% of his wins to himself. I’d start out w ssdm’s on the wing and after a qtr if he’s too dominant double pole the wings. Last year face offs were 50/50. What killed W&L last year was TWENTY SEVEN turnovers, think before you pass see the target ! I’m also not expecting a 21 save performance like they had last year either. Gennies if given the chances ( meaning possessions) I think will score. Hoping for a good game.
I’m with your thinking overall. I would say CNU was stronger last year than this year, I believe this to be true. I also believe W&L is a better offensive tea this year compared to last. The Ssdm 32 and 57 while young have been playing on par with most the play they got last year, close D and LSM are similar. . W&L was fine on face offs in last years game splitting 12/13. The struggle was 27 turnovers just horrendous. The piece that may be missing in tonight’s struggle is last year 21 saves were made. Hope I’m wrongBert Macklin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 1:28 pm If your W&L you have to do two things tonight in order to be in this game. First, you have to make CNU's life hard at the x and fight for ground balls- easier said than done. You can't give them any easy outs need to beat up on their fogo. Second, LONG POSSESSIONS. With the current state of CNU's x-play you're not going to be getting a ton of possession of the face (even if you do the first step). You have to slow it down on offense and give your defense and break and limit CNU chances. I think CNU's d can be tested but you have to play clean and not give their offense extra opportunities.
The crazy thing about this is, I recently heard that the majority of this senior class at CNU is returning for a 5th year as well. So for all the people looking forward to this great senior class leaving, they might have to wait another year.. The Masters of Financial Analysis graduate program at CNU is doing wonders for their lacrosse team.Dehuntshigwa’es wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:07 pmCNU is still sporting 3 fifth years unlike what 10 maybe last year.Bert Macklin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 1:28 pm If your W&L you have to do two things tonight in order to be in this game. They are built for success at this level. That being said. There is a significant drop off in their offense when that first midfield isn’t playing. W&L started zoning the second line and on 4 60 sec possessions they mustered 0 shots.Dehuntshigwa’es wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:18 am 1 down and 2 to go. CNU will tear thru the rest of the ODAC taking on HSC this weekend then Lynchburg the following. I’ve seen this coming the last 5! Years. CNU has the chance to be the Salisbury of the south. Nice school , nice location and nice price, that now comes with what I think will be a perennial top 10 program. Interested in hearing where my assumptions might be wrong. CNU if I’m not mistaken has state funding support for in state tuition if I’m not mistaken. Sounds familiar doesn’t it. They have a very good coach. The game of lacrosse has expanded exponentially the last ten years in Virginia. Virginia has an outstanding D1 program which kids watch an aspire too. CNU has a marginal advantage at the line of scrimmage at this point vs HSC, Roanoke and Lynchburg in cost, perhaps location and now ranking. I suspect those programs will be tested in pursuing recruits by CNU as the academic profile is not too dissimilar. W&L gets a pass here in that it’s a totally different student athlete. 27 of about 54 are Students from Virginia and may have been higher last year. Virginia high school lax will continue to produce even more quality players the next few years feeding into CNU as a result of them maybe becoming the school of choice by a large segment of talented high school players within the state. Curious as to fans thoughts who know far more about the program than myself.
I am pretty familiar with the '22-'24 HS graduating classes. CNU is definitely the top D3 option for the DMV players that are not going to a top D1. There is talented players going to other programs in the ODAC but not consistent to one school. The 2023 class headed to CNU should be very good. I would also add that the club relationship is more important to recruiting than the HS relationship in many cases. CNU does well there.Dehuntshigwa’es wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:18 am 1 down and 2 to go. CNU will tear thru the rest of the ODAC taking on HSC this weekend then Lynchburg the following. I like W&L defense over Lynchburg. But like Lynchburg offense better. Should be a close game. I will give a 1 goal advantage to the home teamJustOneTime wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:45 pm Will it be W&L or Lynchburg to come out on top this weekend? Both teams have played very well most of the time this year. Lynchburg had the week off to rest from their grueling stretch of games. W&L is coming off a solid fight against the #1 team in CNU. W&L is home so that may help a bit. The winner probably will get the #1 seed and get to host the ODAC tourney. I think that Lynchburg has the slight edge. Their goalie has been solid and their face off play and wing play is excellent. Both defenses are strong. I'm taking Lynchburg 13-11.
