Geppert not in the box score. Is he hurt? (Keeping track of a former Bear)
Re: North Carolina 2023
Doc Dougherty, who coached lacrosse for 33 seasons at Garden City and one season at Lawrence and won 567 games …
While at Garden City, Dougherty won 26 regular-season conference titles, 11 Nassau County titles, nine Long Island Championships, and four state championships. His program once won 47 consecutive games, the second longest streak in Nassau history and fifth longest streak in Long Island history …
Re: North Carolina 2023
They were one of the better teams in one year, which was 21. I guess you could throw in 20 as well. Otherwise though, as HF16 pointed out, that's the outlier.stupefied wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 11:45 amBreschi should be given some more lease. UNC was one of the better teams in recent years , thought 21 team may have been the best but not to be .Exlaxbro wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:59 amIs it debatable though? Always a top recruiting class and they get too guys out of the portal. At some point it lands on the coach.
UNC post Gray n some others was expected to be fourth or fifth in ACC this year , somewhat of a rebuild despite decent remaining talent , other than a floundering offense vin OSU, they are performing as generally expected. Thought they looked very good in 2nd and 3rd quarters lat night , slow start was just too much to overcome
2017: 8-8 (1-3 ACC); First Round Loss
2018: 7-7 (1-3 ACC); Missed Tournament
2019: 8-7 (1-3 ACC); Missed Tournament
2020: 7-0
2021: 13-3 (4-2 ACC); Final Four
2022: 8-6 (1-5 ACC); Missed Tournament
2023 so far is 5-3, 0-1 ACC, and on the edge of the tournament.
62% win percentage overall and 32% win percentage in ACC play is miles behind Duke, UVA, and ND. In comparison to Syracuse, which did make a change, Syracuse is at 60% overall and 54% in ACC play. Made 2 more NCAA Tournaments as well, but 1 fewer NCAA Tournament win.
As always, if you want to suggest firing someone, you gotta suggest who you would replace them with, and not sure there's anyone out there you can come up with that makes you go "they're an immediate upgrade" and they'd have produced demonstrably better results over last 6-7 years. However, since the championship, the pattern is a clear decline in results with a 1-2 year outlier period sparked by Chris Gray. They don't perform at the level of Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame, Maryland and those are the schools they should be compared to.

He also ran up a ridiculous score unnecessarily on a high school team from ‘the other side of the tracks’ which barely knew lacrosse and were trying to learn. All for a personal beef. The kids didn’t want to. But the coach told them to shoot.
If you know you know, but that was a pathetic end to a great career. I’m not here at a UNC thread to litigate the situation, but I have no problem telling you I thought it was bush league and made my feelings known then.
The point about Breschi for the reference is he wouldn’t do the same.

Geppert played. Didn't record any stats except for a slashing penalty in the 2nd quarter. Afaik he is not hurt.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 3:51 pm Geppert not in the box score. Is he hurt? (Keeping track of a former Bear)

Sometime a new message and new energy makes all the difference. Guys like Torpey, Chemotti, Caputo, Galloway all come to mind.jrn19 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 5:50 pmThey were one of the better teams in one year, which was 21. I guess you could throw in 20 as well. Sorry didn’t reply earlier. But the answer is yes.
Re: North Carolina 2023
Any word on D Egan's return? Assume he slides back into starting attack for Matan whenever he's healthy.
Re: North Carolina 2023
Egan got a little bit of playing time late in the game against Dartmouth. I think the jury is still out on whether he will return to the starting attack. Matan has played well. It all depends on how well DEgan performs against High Point and Providence. If he plays well, I could see him getting the starting nod for the Virginia game on April 7.

Re: North Carolina 2023
Any speculation that HPU will be competitive tonight or will this game be another Dartmouth?
Re: North Carolina 2023
Carolina followed an 80 yard goal against a 10 man ride with a goal off a hidden ball trick. Fane wasn’t close but had some highlights.

Started out interesting.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Re: North Carolina 2023
Good win against High Point, who has a history of playing up to their competition against top 20 teams. Dorrance field is not an easy surface to play on when it is slick from rain.
Heard Quint mention that Logan Mcgovern has another year of eligibility left after this season. That's news to me. I thought this was his covid year.

They gave him 19 back after he played in couple of games then shut down. Not sure if it was injury or may have been something like meningitis, but know he got a season back other than covid10 10 2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:29 pm Good win against High Point, who has a history of playing up to their competition against top 20 teams.
