I think RIT will have a tougher time winning it all this year.

Re: 2023 Scores in DII
I haven't been following much D3. I have a kid I used to coach at Salisbury now so I'll check out their games when I can. Who are the top 4 dawgs in D3?
Re: 2023 Scores in DII
I actually think D2 is getting considerably stronger.
If you look at the top 10, You have 4 teams whose programs are 15 years old or younger.
Rollins- 2008 (15 years)
Mercy- 2010 (13 Years)
Lenoir Rhyne- 2010 (13 Years)
Tampa- 2012 (11 Years)
I think people fail to realize that D2 is still relatively young and growing. You look at the top 10 of D3 and all but 1 program (CNU, 16 years) has been established for close to 50 years.
That I think explains a lot about why D2 is talked about so little. There isn't a history of familiarity with those programs. Let alone the better teams in D2 are not from large hotbed areas.
1. Tampa, FL
2. Syracuse, NY
3. Erie, PA
4. Garden City, NY
5. Dobbs Ferry, NY
6. Hickory, NC
7. Indianapolis, IN
8. Winter Park, FL
9. Wingate, NC
10. Gaffney, SC
You have a good chunk of NY represented. Then 3 North Carolina Schools, 2 Central FL schools, Then Northwest PA and Indianapolis representing the midwest. No New Jersey, Philly, or New England.

The talent has become much less top heavy over the last 10 years or so. I would say the top 15 of D2 is pretty tight.AbeFroeman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 9:39 amI think you basically made the guys point. Queens was a D2 school that is getting hammered in D1. Queens was in the talks of going D1 for a few years now but never knew an exact start date. Hard to recruit D1 guys to a D2 school when you're not sure what year you'll be going D1. Give them a couple years to recruit real D1 guys.. They have the appeal... With that being said... HPU will beat them this weekend by 12+
I think the original comment was an exaggeration (talent being spread by two teams, but the talent in D2 is much thinner than D1 or D3.
D1, the top 25 teams are stacked. And you can find a 20 something ranked team beating a top 5 team
D3, the top 15 are solid (but no where as deep past the starters as D1). you can find a mid teen team beating a top 5
D2 is very top heavy. I don’t think a team ranked 11-20, is going to compete with a top 5 team.
Top 10 D3 can compete with mid level D1 teams
I would say maybe the top 4 or 5 D2 programs can compete with the same mid level D1
I feel like this is because the media pushes D1. And D3 also gets some media play. But D2 seems to get ignored. Most high school kids can only name a handful of D2 schools.
I would love to see Tampa play RIT. That would be a good game to watch

Not sure of your point. Monmouth finished last year ranked 209th, Oglethorpe was 204th. The best team on your list is Colorado college and they finished 53rd.Pitt12 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 3:30 pmQuincy University (D2) vs Monmouth (IIL) (D3) (Quincy 30-5)Pitt12 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 9:45 amD2 vs D3 2023KnowingWizardofODAC wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:54 pm I want to put this out there, Division II Lacrosse means about as much as the WNBA. Point is the wizard has no clue about d2 lacrosse. Just showing the wizard there are some pretty terrible d3 teams. Mesa finished 20th last year.

And Stone made a run in the 4th quarter to make it 17-14 with several minutes left, but just ran out of gas. It didn't help that their faceoff specialist (Ladner) seemed hobbled by injury for most of the second half.
Wingate had some bad penalties at the time of that run that hurt them...

Re: 2023 Scores in DII
Is Limestone completely okay with being in the middle of the pack in Division 2. This once decorated program is definitely looking like that over the past 2 years. The hiring of a head coach with limited head coaching experience ($$$?), followed by the hiring of completely inexperienced assistant coaches. I understand that throughout sports the hiring of alumni is a very strong thing. But is this truly the best for the program and the young men that came to such a program that in the past was a destination for top talent. One has to wonder if the current coaching staff learned anything from the previous head coach about accountability and a culture of a team first mentality. And as for your assessment that the defense will be better in a few years what is truly the reasoning for this assessment. The in game situational awareness is nowhere to be found. On the offensive side of the ball the players just dodge into double/triple coverage because opposing teams realize that they are not going to pass so slide early. The coaches have to adapt their approach/planning for the players that they have available. This is coaching 101.

Looking at their website stats Stone is very sophomore-heavy.
