I’d have Nova, PSU and Richmond ahead of Del right now. Dels wins are St Johns, Lafayette and MSM and while they Nova loss was by 1, it was at home and looks like Matt Licata, who’s a top 3 offensive player for Nova, didn’t play.

The more I think about it right now I’d have Nova ahead of a few others as well around 15

Mike Robinson, preseason all American, 53 goals last year, didn’t play for Hens. Neither did starting midfielder Drew Lenkaitis. Matt Licata? He had 6 goals last year. Hardly the linchpin of the offense. But nova should be higher. Agreed

Licata had 4 pts in each of the first two games against credible competition.

And I said right now. That 3-1 doesn’t have anything in it on the win side. Should get there but today?

The one thing the Hens discovered, DeLuca recruited two under
the radar freshmen who can contribute in very high level games,

———————

Michael Robinson was an All American last year, the 3rd wheel in
that 200+ point attack,

Lenkaitis had a tremendous game last year in the Georgetown
win, he’s key to their midfield units as a 5th year.

Stlll, Matt Campbell is a 1st team AA, its hard not to argue that,

Campbell and Villanova adjusted to the initial Hens clampdown
on him.

IL’s latest

Rank Team Points Prev
1 Virginia (2 - 0) 517 (24) 1
2 Notre Dame (2 - 0) 458 (1) 3
3 Princeton (1 - 0) 428 4
4 Cornell (1 - 0) 422 2
5 Yale (1 - 0) 409 5
6 Loyola (2 - 0) 401 (1) 11
7 Penn (1 - 0) 386 10
8 Ohio State (3 - 0) 373 6
9 Maryland (2 - 1) 345
So far, these sure do look like the 9 top teams, as far as the order
you can swap positions for any of those 9, except for UVA at
number one.
And again, right now Loyola is looking like the second best squad out there based on production to date.
Does defense not count? So far Virginia has given up 13 and 21 to a team outside the top 20 and another at the back end. And before you say it was against 2nd and 3rd strings, they gave up 8 in the first half against Harvard. I'm not saying you can't make a case for them at number 1, but to say that there is Virginia and then every one else is not backed up by evidence.
If virginia had played their starters the whole game and won 30-10 would you feel differently? Because that is exactly how it would have gone. Liberal subbing started in the first quarter. It was 10-1, and virginia was up 15-3, and by the way 4 of Harvard's first half goals were man up. Officiating had some rust on it. Certainly the defense could have been better but looked pretty good against OSU giving up only 5 to their offense and 1 on a ten man ride to the goalie.

Did they sub the defense out in the first half?Anyway, this was written well before the OSU game. And it was the performance against Michigan more than anything that gave me pause. They certainly seemed to have buttoned things up. They’ll be #1 in my poll this week.

Maybe, because every team will lose eventually, but I find these kinds of posts amusing. Glad I don’t have my heart dashed every year by a perenially over rated Georgetown. Are they 0-4 or 0-5 and counting, dating back to last season? Until proven otherwise, they have had about the same amount of success in the NCAA as Cleveland State. Thank God for the weak conference and auto bid. They still have a chance.

Classy.

Also, I wrote this a week ago. Real brave of you to respond now (to a post that wasn’t even directed at you) after the OSU game.

+1
Nova's victories over Penn State and #10 Delaware warrant a top-20 ranking at this point in the season

Cuse at 20 looks low but maybe I am projecting. With that kind of goalie play, an offense that is pretty electric and should just get better, that is a scary 3-2 team. See how they play Vs Duke

So re: Cornell and ND, who would you move up ahead of them? Maryland, who got pwned by Loyola? Duke, who got beaten by Jacksonville and needed a last-second goal (and OT) to squeak by Denver?

Also, I disagree with you assessments of both of these teams. Lehigh was averaging ~20 goals/game; Cornell shut them completely out for the last 40 minutes. Long stretches of possessions where Lehigh couldn't even get a shot off. Looked like the defense of the NCAA run last year; if their D is really this solid, then watch out when their offense really starts clicking.

Georgetown has been struggling, sure, but ND controlled that game start to finish. I expected a close game but it was no contest from the start.

The Maryland/ND positioning will be decided right quick. Cornell has a couple of big games over the next two weeks and we should know about them pretty quickly, too.

Very fair. 19 goals 17 saves statistically is not great but he makes big saves and think can be a difference maker for them in tight games.
