Ivy League 2023
Re: Ivy League 2023
What happens if, God forbid,
ND barely misses the tournament at large again this year?
and with only 12 stinkin’ games again,
no wins over any tournament teams,
and for this year, say, a one goal loss to Ohio State who gets in

ND fans & journos start a "move to the NAIA" twitterfeed & petition.
This will be my last comment here unless/until it gets back to IL stuff

It’s only tough being a fan if one is not in control of their emotions and rational.wgdsr wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:16 pmtheir really good wins were an 8 seed and 2 unseeded teams? and 2 losses to teams outside the top 20? it's tough being a fan.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:59 pmPrinceton had a stronger case in 2015 than Notre Dame had in 2022 but there was far less bellyaching…..really good wins but a bad loss cost them.jrn19 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:55 pm Here’s some criteria.
W-L record: Identical percentage ; Ohio State won 2 more games. edge Ohio State
SOS: edge Notre Dame
Results of the RPI: edge Notre Dame
Record against RPI: ND was 0-2 against 1-5, OSU was 0-3. ND was 2-1 against 6-10, OSU was 1-0. ND was 0-0 against 11-15, OSU was 1-0. ND was 1-0 against 16-20. OSU was 2-0. In total, ND was 3-3 against teams Top 20 in the RPI, which the NCAA considers “quality wins.” OSU was 4-3. Every team below is considered a “bad loss.” Edge Ohio State.
Average RPI win: ND’s was 32. OSU’s was 35. Edge ND.
Average RPI loss: ND’s was 7. OSU’s was 8. Edge ND.
Head to head competition: Edge Ohio State
Results vs common opponents: both played MD. Both lost. Both played UNC. Both won. Both played Michigan. Both won. Wash.
Significant wins and losses (wins against teams ranked higher in the RPI and losses against teams ranked lower): Notre Dame beat Duke who was ahead of them. Lost to OSU who was below. OSU beat ND who was ahead. Lost to Denver who was behind. It’s a wash
We’ve basically got a dead heat here. Except the two teams *played on the field* and Ohio State beat them. They beat them by 3 goals. No one saw the game and thought anything other than Ohio State was the better team. If you want to argue today, with your whole chest, it was a travesty that Notre Dame didn’t get into the tournament over a team that they LOST TO ON THE FIELD with a case that is basically identical according to the selection criteria laid to by the NCAA, then god bless you but I hope you find some better things to do starting with tomorrow.
Here’s the criteria by the way if you’re wondering where I pulled it from. Yeah it was close. Ohio State beat ‘em on the field. Maybe Notre Dame should win the game this year. That will go a long way. https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/champi ... andout.pdf
Why is seeding being mixed with RPI or other rankings here?

Foosball-like when QK compares the T to the Heisman trophy all the time.

I’m trying to find out how fast Griffin and Sam King play Brody Coleman (Yale) can start dominating so my sons fantasy team can tap dance on the heads of these old fantasy jocks were competing with.

Great picks! I'd not be surprised to see either Penn or Dartmouth prevail, but I agree you've picked the most likely outcomes. I think Yale will win, but Villanova is a challenging opener. The Orfling wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 9:17 pm Welcome back, Ivy League lacrosse! Predictions:

Yes, Orfling has made the logical picks. Of course, they play the games for a reason. A year or two before the pandemic, Quinnpiac knocked off Brown by a goal; but that was in CT, and I expect Brown to win in Providence. Somewhere or other, Quint made a snide remark about Yale having a soft schedule, but I think Nova in Philly will be a stern challenge. Speaking of stern challenges, gotta love Harvard scheduling its opener vs UVA; this one looks like potentially the most fun to watch of this weekend's slate.faircornell wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 12:10 amGreat picks! Re: Ivy League 2023
The season is a process, so what I'm looking at today (factoring in it's game one):
H/UVa... Harvard's performance after a season that saw them make a jump. Win (wow!) or lose, does the graphline continue up?
PU/Monmouth... Talent superiority not in question. Looking at new goalie performance.
Yale/'Nova... Traditionally close contest; has Yale's surprisingly weak 2022 defense gotten back on track?
Cornell/Albany... ncaa finalist should not struggle against a program that has returned to the pack.
UP/G'town... Talented opponent coming off a loss. Strong Penn team replacing a goalie; how does he do?
D'mouth/Merrimack... Merrimack has started off strong, 3-0. A Dartmouth win (again, 1st game) should get other Ivies' attention.
Brown/Quinnipiac... Brown lost 4 of 5 top scorers, all starting close D. Let's see performance against a team they should be favored against.

Nice W for the Quakers. Would be great to see the whole league start off strong again
Re: Ivy League 2023
Big Green squeaks past Merrimack 11-10. We'll take it!

The Dartmouth-Bart game seems like an interesting matchup for both this year/
Want to bet a meal w MD on that, paid for by loser but planned by MDs platform to ensure quality and health, of course.

Bad loss for Brown. Q goalie played very well but way too many unforced errors for Brown.
Re: Ivy League 2023
MDLaxFan76 must have some split allegiances on the UVA vs Harvard game. Like father or like son??

If you make it to Atlanta where I reside now and Dart takes it I’ll buy you a burger and beer from here (near my house too):b1w7o9y7h wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 3:05 pmDamn, pal. If Bart wins we will rendezvous in Manhattan and you can buy me a fatty burger from Jackson Hole which I haven’t had in over a decade. Does that work?
