All of this hinges on Dartmouth beat Penn this weekend of course (which I'm going to go say is probably not going to happy... sorry Big Green).
We're not offended.
After the destruction wreaked on HU, and the issues we're having gaining and keeping possessions, hard to see us knocking off Penn in '19!

Massey has it about right...

Dartmouth is my favorite Ivy League school actually. I hope they get things straightened out soon.

I too hope they move up. Still remember Cornell's upset 2010 loss to the Big Green at Gillette (ah, those were the days!). Not good to have large consistent disparities across the League.

Mine too! :D

We're working on it, but 2019 is not likely going to be the year we knock off the hottest team in the Ivies, nor any top 10 team.

I like our chances in 2020 and 2021 as these guys mature, we add some FOGO help, and build some more depth, especially at midfield.

There's still some conference games left to play, but Penn and Yale have ILT spots secured; Cornell and Brown look likely to claim the remaining two spots... which would would (could) make this essentially a repeat of last year's tourney, although Penn goes from 4th seed to #1. Cornell @ Brown must be the Ivy game of the coming weekend, two teams 2-2 in conference, both coming off of sweet non-conference wins and looking to claim spots in the ILT. Cornell has been nationally ranked and has marquee player Jeff Teat, but I was favorably impressed by Brown this last Saturday; the Bears played Yale every bit as tough as Cornell had. One could do worse than being in Providence Saturday at noon.

FannOLax wrote: Thu Apr 11, 2019 1:32 pm With the weekend approaching, my predictions:

Harvard 12 Penn 11: okay, I've revised this one from a comfortable Penn win. The logical pick is clearly a Quakers win, but something in my gut senses upset.
Yale 18 Brown 11
Princeton 14 Dartmouth 9

Cornell 14 Notre Dame 13 (OT)
Aside from the last minute change not bad!... I don't think anyone saw a 26 being put up on the scoreboard!.

Here we go!
Not in time for the Yale game... Go Elis!

Brown 13 over Cornell 10
;)

Penn 20 over Dartmouth 8

Princeton 10 over Harvard 9

Good luck to all the teams and players!

Princeton v Harvard: both of these teams have a mathematical chance of making the ILT, but desperately need to win today. Princeton ends its Ivy schedule at Cornell, while Harvard closes with Yale; so at 1-3 each, the winner today will have a massive task, while the loser is toast.... probably a scrap in the NJ rain. Princeton 13 Harvard 8.

Brown v Cornell: probably a soggy Providence battle; both teams 2-2, with Brown playing Dartmouth next weekend. Cornell 12-10.

Penn v Dartmouth in Philly: Penn 21 Dartmouth 6.

7-2 Cornell over Brown at the half. The Red dominating faceoffs (!) and looking much the better team … (but for oldtimers like me, that halftime score recalls the 1976 NCAA championship game, in Providence, when Cornell was on the wrong side of it …)

12-9 Cornell, final. Brown came all the way back to within 1, 9-8, but then Cornell put it away.

C>B, Pe>D, Pr>H today. Congrats to Penn for clinching sole possession of the Ivy League Championship! And the #1 seed in the ILT (the latter actually clinched last week).

Next week, HvY is now irrelevant to the ILT. Here are the remaining scenarios:

B>D C>Pr: Pe,Y,C,B
B>D Pr>C: Pe,Y,(B,C,Pr)*

D>B C>Pr: Pe,Y,C,B
D>B Pr>C: Pe,Y,Pr,C

* depends on Princeton's margin of victory (capped at 6 max) over Cornell:

MOV = 1,2: C,B
MOV = 3,4,5: B,Pr (corrected from earlier mistake on MOV=3 case)
MOV = 6: Pr,C (corrected from earlier mistake)

I'm going with 1. Penn, 2. Yale, 3. Cornell, 4. Brown

With the following cases for each team.
Penn - IN, no matter what
Yale - IN, no matter what
Cornell - enters tournament on the bubble
Brown - AQ or bust

Thanks, CU. much appreciated analysis. Not to take anything away from your hard work, but I think the ILT is set at this point. I don't see any way for Dartmouth to beat Brown. Cornell over Princeton is less of a lock, but still an 80% probability in Ithaca.

I know I've been a broken record on this one, but I'd put Cornell at 50/50 versus Princeton. Princeton has an amazing attack, and a sophomore pole who helped neutralize JT51 last season. This will be quite a test for both squads.

Possessions will be critical, I think we saw what this team can do when we win at the FO X during first half today. We were then reminded of the alternative in the third period. Full 4 quarters and continued improvement at the FO X and Defense are the keys to keeping our season alive.

So both Princeton and Cornell get an "extra" playoff game, within a two goal margin of straightforward one and done. At its' best should bring out the competitor in everyone involved. Likely to have an impact on Ivy POY as well.

Congratulations to Penn on winning the league championship. Going 6-0 in the Ivies this year is incredibly impressive.
