laxfan4all,
This isn't just about UIndy and other teams playing well in other conferences. The committee put Tampa at #4 the week after they got beat in Tampa by Lynn which they have at #8. The committee believes Tampa is a tournament worthy team and Lynn isn't, which Lynn proved on the field they were a better team. Sorry, but that is truly flawed, even you have to agree with that???

Actually i dont. Its the any given day scenerio. Yes lynn beat tampa. But lynn also lost to Southern that tampa beat twice. Thats my point. let the games play out. If lynn beats tampa again then the entire argument is moot. There are many teams that have lost games they shouldnt have. Look at lenior. Start of season they were one of the favorites. Theyve had a tough year. Doesnt mean they aren't good. Still think they could beat anyone on any given day

Lynn also lost to mesa which tampa destroyed. Any given day, so we’re back to the numbers
Re: 4/17/2019 Regional Rankings
laxfan4all,
Tampa is your team, I get it. On any given day happened and Lynn beat Tampa. The scenario of Mesa playing Lynn in Salt Lake as compared to Mesa playing Tampa in the friendly confines of Tampa's home stadium doesn't completely override the fact that Lynn beat Tampa in Tampa... On any given day the NCAA committee saw that and said "So what, Lynn we don't care that you beat Tampa on Tampa's home field. Tampa is the better team." Both UIndy and Rockhurst handled Lindenwood quite easily but Tampa found some way to lose to Lindenwood... and the committee said Tampa is a better team than both UIndy and Rockhurst. At least Tampa didn't have a head-to-head with either UIndy or Rockhurst to prove otherwise. We all know these are the initial rankings and that they are not the final rankings. We all know that a lot of games will still be played. We also all know that there will be situations that are tough decisions to be made because "on paper" one team should be able to beat another. But, if those 4 committee members say it on the first rankings they can say it on the last. We can agree to disagree. Tampa is your team, I get it. You are in position to know the committee will try to put them in the tournament anyway they can and with at least one home game to help them out, as far as I am concerned. So God bless you and Tampa.
I would like to see the NCAA go to a 16 team NCAA tournament field. Each conference that has 6 teams in it gets an automatic qualifier for their tournament champion. The field would then be seeded and filled out with at-large bids that the NCAA committee determines (anyway they see fit). I will go even one step further and say I would be willing to shell out $20 to go watch those quarterfinal games to help finance those extra 2 games...

Will need to add 30+ programs before the bracket goes to 16.
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Learn to recognize the difference.

Mount Olive with a close lose to Limestone. Wonder how high they’ll jump? You can’t out Tampa Tampa by scheduling good teams and losing they like can. They can literally win or lose on any given Saturday and it doesn’t matter
Re: 4/17/2019 Regional Rankings
I've been hoping for a 16-team bracket for several years. With the 8-team bracket in 2018, men's lax had the second worst postseason access ration in D2 and only surpassed by women's lax. It was a huge gap between the lax ratios and the third worst ratio. This year men's lax is fourth worst; football is third, field hockey is second, and women's lax is still the worst. D2 football will always have a higher ratio even when it eventually expands to the max of 32 teams. Expanding the men's bracket to 16 and the women's bracket to 24 will put those sports in line with the access ratio of most of the other D2 sports. Also, D2 and D1 men's lax both have 73 teams in 2019 and D1 has had a bracket with 16, 17, or 18 teams for several years.

Admittedly D1 lacrosse is a special case, but the NCAA policy has always been to allocate (as closely as possible, and allowing for proper brackets) one playoff spot for every 7.5 - 8 teams.

Second set, yes, then one more on the following Wednesday. Final regional ranking never published (Sunday afternoon on Selection Sunday).

You could make a better argument to expand the women's tourney further...leeatu wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 5:52 pmInteresting. Don't see them expanding to 16 for the men soon unless a whole lot of additions...
