Re: Patriot League 2023
Nichtern has been the engine for Army lacrosse for the past few years. Thought this was their year. Will be interesting to see what happens without him.
Re: Patriot League 2023
Yeah, wide open next year. BU still probably favored. Army loses a little. Loyola lost a lot. Navy?? Lehigh?? Colgate loses Minicus. Bucknell on upward trend? Eventually Lafayette has to make a move... Can't get fired up until the Fall

Re: Patriot League 2023
Nichtern will easily be the biggest loss for any team in the league. Kid was a force multiplier for Army, made everyone around him better and was a beast. He is a talent that is not immediately replaceable. Not that he needed to prove anything but look no further than his PLL start to see he’s elite. That’s very tough to replacekramerica.inc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 2:37 pm Nichtern has been the engine for Army lacrosse for the past few years. Thought this was their year. Army always will be tough so they’ll be a tough out, but Nichtern leaves a huge hole IMO

Re: Patriot League 2023
Army takes a bigger hit than Loyola IMO (Nichtern). While I’m in wait n see mode on the Hounds, they return a really good core on offense and with a few new young faces (don’t need many, 1 or 2) they will be fine. Gotta solve for two major areas/question marks...Goaltending and face off dot...time will tell. Hounds return enough on the backend to compete...
Agree on BU...gotta be the early favorite
Navy, Lehigh, Bucknell, Colgate...all can compete
Who knows though...like you said it’s the summer. I need to enjoy summer stuff and football season before I get too caught up in lacrosse
Re: Patriot League 2023
He was not a dominant factor vs Navy. Only won one star, as a plebe.
2019 -- 2g, 3a, Army W 9-8
2020 -- cx'd
2021 -- 0 g, 0 a, Navy W 9-4
2022 -- 3g, 1a, Navy W 12-11
Re: Patriot League 2023
He had Army in top 15 all four years.old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 12:11 amHe was not a dominant factor vs Navy. Only won one star, as a plebe.

I guess he had them in the top 15 at one point in the season. But they actually finished just outside.

Nichtern's era was interesting because I think we got to see Army's potential and probably ceiling. He made the players around him much better.

I hear BU has all their starters coming back, including those listed as seniors last year. They should be the favorites given they have everyone back and that the other top teams do actually lose major players.

Re: Patriot League 2023
That would be logical. Similar to this past year in that Loyola had all of their starters back except one or two and flopped. Sometimes that fifth year isn’t as good as the prior ones.Beckhamlax wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:05 pm I hear BU has all their starters coming back, including those listed as seniors last year. It’s BU’s title until it’s not. Gotta like what they did this past year. Hope they can get over the hump and go a little further in the NCAAs this year.Laxmaninamillion wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:01 pmThat would be logical. Loyola loses a lot. But I can’t wait to see what the Hounds look like and who gets chances to step up. Love these types of years.

Re: Patriot League 2023
Looking at BU's roster it's confirmed that every major contributor from last years team is back. This includes Cates who tore his ACL last year and at the time was BU's alpha in the midfield. Hopefully they can avoid Loyola's 2022 season where results didn't match up with the expectations of the returning roster.

First up,
Bucknell - Mercer
its a balmy 17 degrees in Lewisburg,
maybe they should have switched this game to Georgia.

I actually think Lafayette is going to be improved. They played a Penn State squad who is going to surprise a lot of people.
