Petraeus does not want to say anything that may be interpreted as discouraging. Other experts point out the time delay, hoping Biden & DoD will relent & send serviceable Abrams (like the ones the Marines just retired that are going to Poland as interim backfill) rather than waiting for re-mans off the production line

If that's the case, Politico is US media - which invalidates your initial statement. There's a good chance the 31 Abrams tanks we'll be sending won't arrive in time to matter in Ukraine but could jeopardize their arrival in Taiwan or to backfill Poland. Why are serviceable M1A1's sitting in storage, waiting in line as seed tanks for re-manufacture into the latest version M1A2, when they are urgently needed in Poland, Taiwan & Ukraine ? This is a way to say "yes", when "no" is the answer in reality.

Maybe next, suggest you start swapping out the Russian national anthem for ours. It's easier to sing, too.
Personally. I think you do garbage like this to get a rise of of everybody. Pretty weak sauce.
What offends you about the RT article ? What's in it that you take issue with.

A savvy media pro like you should see that the US msm is soft pedaling the delay. They're not reporting what Zelensky is saying to foreign media about the delay, but to link it in this close minded forum would elicit accusstions of promoting Russian propaganda.
Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
No...partisan idiots complain no matter what happens.
How much have you been b*tching about the US doing all the heavy lifting, and the "Euroburgers" not lifting a finger?
Now that they are stepping in, you move the goalposts, and are now complaining that the US tanks won't arrive anytime soon.
And bashing US media....until you realize you're bashing Petraus, then you change your mind, and tell us that Petraeus "doesn't want to say anything discouraging"....which is somehow ok with you.
Do you not realize how silly you're being?

Here's another CNN General acknowledging the delay.
I'm not changing my mind.
The Germans deserve the bashing they're taking on this. Preventing other NATO members from donating their Leopards & demanding a fig leaf that the US send 31 Abrams that are more urgently needed by Taiwan & Poland to back fill the Leopards, T-91's & T-72's the Poles are donating.
I support getting as many capable tanks as possible to Ukraine asap, in hopes (imho) that it will hasten the end of this conflict.
Time is not on Ukraine's side.

Great. So why aren't you yelling about him?
Past tense. Deserved. They're now doing what you ask. So move on.
Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
Like it's on Putin's side?
Every incremental increase of military aid to Ukraine turns the screws tighter on Putin. He's beyond F'ed with each passing day. Putin may launch an offensive, but it doesn't matter....he can't hold territory now that NATO is getting more and more directly involved with each passing day.
Ukraine's people aren't gonna cede the new ground Russia has taken in the past year, OS. Don't know what you need to see to understand that. Putin can't hold this land. Same thing I've been asking from the start: how does Putin think he's gonna hold territory that doesn't want to be held?
Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
Right now, it's a short term race to take & hold territory which will establish the line of contact which will be the starting negotiating line for a border when it either turns into a frozen conflict or ceasefire for negotiations. Both sides have been reinforcing, rearming & building defenses.a fan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 5:30 pmLike it's on Putin's side?

The Russians are gaining strength faster than the Ukrainians are. There's a lot of hype about increased western aid to Ukraine but it takes time to arrive & be incorporated. It's a hodgepodge for training & supply purposes.

Re. manpower, Putin has a deeper bench than Zelensky.
Our Pentagon is advising Z that the sooner he can mount his next offensive (in the south), the better the chances of a decisive, favorable outcome.

But the Ukrainians don't want to be occupied unlike Crimea. And do you think these tanks are the last step for NATO? I don't.
NATO is now pot committed, after kicking and screaming their way to finally helping Ukraine. Surely you get that.
According to who? You can't possibly think that the only "hype" happening is on the Ukraine side of the ledger. Use your head. Any notion that Putin is holding better cards went to pot the minute he called a draft less than a year into the battle.
It's not possible that Russia is "gaining strength" faster than Ukraine long term. Short term? Possibly. Maybe.
But now Putin has to compete with NATO, instead of just the US. And Biden, as you very well know, will step it up long term if he's getting backing from Germany et. al.
I don't see how Putin can hold this new land.
Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
Yet. As I said, I doubt these tanks are the last of what is sent......
More humans? Sure. They have more of those.

The timing isn't that important (31 tanks ain't much), but the announcement is. I don't see how Putin can hold this new land.
Western officials had hoped that Ukraine may be able to mount an offensive as soon as this spring. They believe there is now a window of opportunity while Russia struggles to recruit and rebuild its battered forces, and to replenish its dwindling supplies of ammunition.
Putin's been competing with NATO since he came to power.
You view this as backing from Germany ?
They've been delaying & preventing other NATO allies from sending tanks.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
