I have a feeling that Marquette might finish in the top three.

What's that feeling based on? They were 4-11 last year, 11-23 overall under Stimmel, and have yet to beat Georgetown, Denver, or Villanova since he took over in 2020. Last year they lost to those teams by a combined score of 61-31 over four games.

They were young last year — some improvement is perfectly reasonable to project given their youth but IMO there's still a pretty wide gulf between Denver/Villanova and the bottom half of the conference.

Just a feeling with all of the talent they have back and their solid freshman class. My feeling might be way off. We will see.

dont forget about st. johns. a new coach at the helm could bring significant changes. As well as some transfers, Sean Duffy from Hampden-Sydney who ran their conference. i am not talking about winning the ship, but giving those northern prep boys a good hot dog to the face.

Love the optimism but not likely
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

We won 14-11. Was a close game throughout. I don’t know anything about Villanova but they have a preseason first team AA at midfield.

This is common sense. But chances aren't half-bad that Denver's incentive and hunger have gone to another level due to Tierney retiring. That was a no worse than pretty good Utah squad they handled today.

As has Georgetown’s after the Delaware game. Will be some intense games this year for sure.

As has Nova's after giving G-Town quite a battle in the Big East Tournament Championship.

I still think Marquette may be the surprise team. They have lots of talent back, and Coach Stimmel has recruited very well. I don't care if Lindenwood is a new program. The Golden Eagles looked very good today.

One of the biggest questions is if Providence and St. John's will be more competitive with their new coaches.

This was a pretty good weekend for the Big East. Providence looks rejuvenated under first year coach Bobby Benson.

Providence beat Holy Cross. 1-13 last year. Marquette being better that Denver, Georgetown and Villanova? Zero chance.

Yeah if this weekend indicated anything is that PC is so so after week 1 and Marquette should be better this year, but still beating up on a newly minted D1 team doesnt hold much merit

Let's see what happens this weekend. Will Georgetown pound Hopkins? Will Marquette continue to show improvement and possibly beat Utah?

Not a great day for the BE so far, Denver may be the only win, and the Hoyas picked up where they left off last season, transfer u? Maybe not always the best idea, sure early, but lost to the blue jays? Making a real bonded team by picking up single season players, I guess it worked in college basketball but perhaps not in a more team oriented sport? PC and STJ also looked like new coaches, same old prob. Again, time will tell but clock has started to tick.

Georgetown will be fine; Dordevic, Minicus, and Hincks were all big difference makers today. Hopkins is the real deal this year (roughed up Jacksonville last week, who just took down the Duke team that everyone's been salivating over so far this year) and they brought their A game. Georgetown didn't play theirs, but they played decently all things considered; just couldn't get the ball in the 4th quarter and the D tired out.
