Pre-Season Scrimmages
I think a number of teams started having scrimmages this weekend. Anyone have any insight to who played who and how it went?
Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
I know Limestone traveled to Mercer. LR hosted Queens, Belmont Abbey played Anderson, and Florida Southern played Jacksonville and Lynchburg. That's all I know from this week, I expect there will be a lot more next week.Bob Lawblaw wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:49 am I think a number of teams started having scrimmages this weekend. Was 4-1 after a quarter and 9-2 at the half I'm told.
Wingate beat Mount St. Mary's in a scrimmage on Saturday.

Ya I heard the same thing. Limestone and Montevallo met at Mercer and the 3 teams played each other.RedFromMI wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 3:29 pmMontecello was also at Mercer...eclax42 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 12:45 pmI know Limestone traveled to Mercer. I don't know details, but heard Limestone beat Montevallo by 1 or 2 goals...15 to 14 possibly. Not sure about the other scrimmages.
Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
Anderson beat Belmont Abby
Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
Is LR really good or Queen's bad, or both?
9-2 at halftime is tough when they will be playing a full d1 schedule.

Siena 16-9 over St. Rose. Saw online that Mercer topped Tampa by a couple.

Wingate beat Belmont Abbey by a lot on Saturday.
Think Wingate was up 12 at one point when it was still starters vs starters. Not sure if it says more about Wingate or BA...

Queens beat Limestone by a handful. Something like 15-10.
Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
UIndy lost to Detriot Mercy 11-10. UIndy jumped out to a 7-0 lead and was up at the half 8-3.
UIndy played a lot of players and got some good game experience from a solid DM squad.

Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
For all scrimmages, the goals of the coaches may differ - only a portion of a scrimmage may be to match up well with the opposing side. How much depth a team has, how the coach uses that depth in a scrimmage to determine game readiness (especially at a week before season start) can vary depending on what the coaching staff is trying to accomplish.\
The task is also different if there are larger numbers of new personnel...
But they are intended to be at least at some level competitive. But a margin of say 5 as reported above does not necessarily mean that if the two teams were to meet in a regular season game the margin would be the same.

I checked with my sources (who definitely know), and the final number was 15-12, and 11-10 (Saints up) after 4 quarters (they played 5).GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:17 am Queens beat Limestone by a handful. Something like 15-10.

I watched the film. It was 10-8 queens at the end of 3rd. Queens took starters out at 4th quarter. 11-11 after 4th. 15-12 final after 5.RedFromMI wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:33 pmI checked with my sources (who definitely know), and the final number was 15-12, and 11-10 (Saints up) after 4 quarters (they played 5).GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:17 am Queens beat Limestone by a handful.
