Wonder if that's about what Pompeo found when he took over the CIA.

...makes one wonder if Barr has some surprises in store for his press conf.

This rollout is driving the (D)'s & MSM nuts. They come unglued when they can't drive the narrative, ..

"I have an odd request, and it concerns Robert Mueller’s report, a redacted version of which will be released by the Justice Department tomorrow.

Please ignore it.

Maybe not “ignore” — I’m overstating my case — but please stop treating or at least talking about it as the referendum on Donald Trump’s presidency. Please stop casting or letting others cast it as some definitive judgment about the wrongness or rightness of his ascent to the White House, as some binding verdict on whether his behavior there has gone beyond the pale.

Do you — does anyone — really need the work of Mueller and his team to come to a conclusion about that? How important is evidence not yet revealed when so much of what Trump does is conspicuous, when the essence of his character is proudly unhidden? You know it from his words, spoken and tweeted and intemperate to the point of viciousness. You know it from his aides, current and former, whose nagging senses of patriotism and propriety lead them to leak about the extreme requests that he has made and that they have thwarted.

You know it in your bones.

And that’s the problem with the Mueller obsession. It implies that Trump is defined by whether he actively conspired with Russian officials to attain power. It suggests that the jury on his integrity is out, that the puzzle of his full nature is unsolved.

Are there missing pieces, without which exact degrees of malfeasance can’t be determined? Yes. And some of them will probably be missing forever.
But they’re not necessary, not to appraise him morally as opposed to criminally.

From his spasmodic activism before he formally entered politics, from his furious campaign for the presidency and from his two and a quarter years in office, you have the truth of Trump. You need nothing more to decide that he has been persecuted and is no worse in his way than other presidents were in theirs, or to take a darker view, which I do.

To discuss the Mueller report as some climax and turning point is to empower various partisans — the president and his supporters chief among them — in their efforts to parse and characterize it to their liking and turn it into propaganda for that small but pivotal minority of Americans whose votes in 2020 aren’t foreordained.

That lets political gamesmanship and public relations eclipse common sense. And it’s no way to make America sane again."
Sounds like Franks got an inkling the report will have nothing in it. So who needs to concentrate on an investigation thats held libs breathless for nearly 3 years. That stifled any forward movement by an administration that was accomplishing a great deal.

Nahhh we ain't got to show you no stinking report!
"stifled any forward movement"...with a GOP House and Senate???

or do you mean that it contributed to an historically big gap in votes in the 2018 election?

Surprises? He's going to smear a bunch of poo on the walls about the origins of this entire investigation. After accusing his own FBI of spying on the Trump campaign, this clown could walk out at 9:30 wearing a XXL QANON t-shirt he stole from RandyRad's dirty-clothes hamper and we shouldn't be surprised. No, there will be no surprises.

Right. I'm sure the R's and the MSM would handle this entirely differently.

Given that the WH had the "redacted" report for quite some time now, this presser is just to get the Chyrons to spin for a few hours with their message to try and drown out the opposition. But so far the best defense of the President is that he could not be guilty of obstruction because he was pissed, and not understanding what it means to be President did what pissed people who are uninformed do - obstruct. But not guilty because he didn't know better...

Oh - and the issue of conspiracy vis-a-vis the stolen emails: the theory here is that because the campaign did _not_ actually participate in the base crime of stealing the emails, they could not be found guilty of conspiracy...

It will be fun to see how much stuff is actually unredacted at this point (I would expect a whole lot)... But you probably have a pretty good case legally for impeachment - the question is are the Ds willing to push it (and if they do they have a good legal argument to get all the Mueller report, including the grand jury information...)

+10!

This loser has already trotted out dozens of reasons why he shouldn't be - WON'T be re-elected in 2020 but rather sent back to the private sector where he can set up his own network to rail against all the indictment and court cases lying in wait for him upon his arrival there.

He has single-handedly destroyed the GOP, and left it a hollow, ineffective shell of its one-time hollow, ineffective self.

What he's SO good at is the CON. He OWNS the people in our country that are so very susceptible to BEING conned...just look at them all, today, they are more convinced than aver that they are winning something. Like their "leader", hollow, empty, meaningless "winners".

An excellent skim/read. Plenty to feast on even with redactions. "Game Over" victory lap a predictable non-game changer.

Mueller referred 14 investigations to other offices that didn't fall under the Russia investigation, 12 of which are redacted.

Mueller suggested Congress could take action on at least 10 instances of obstruction of Justice (which Barr lied about).

'Mueller's office says they weighed charging Trump with obstruction, but didn’t in part because “we recognized that a federal criminal accusation against a sitting President would place burdens on the President’s capacity to govern and potentially preempt constitutional process for addressing presidential misconduct.”'

"With respect to whether the President can be found to have obstructed justice by exercising his powers under Article II of the Constitution, we concluded that Congress has the authority to prohibit a President's corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice."

Long way from over. The unredacted report will come out prior to the 2020 election.

Republicans are idiots if they don't release the unredacted report to Pelosi asap. Because the closer to the election it is released, the more damage it will do. America's attention spans can't make it a full year.

Finances. It's all of Trump's shady finances. We all know this, right?
