I can only wonder if trump stole the script from the Clintons when it comes to larceny and dishonesty?? They may have even discussed it when Bill and Hillary attended the dumpsters wedding reception. On a river rafting trip in West Virginia a couple summers ago, we stayed in a campground that had a road leading to a section off in the woods where there were more permanent, summer-long sites. Driving down there one evening, we came across a strange, dystopian, Road Warrior-like enclave of RV's, tent camps and ramshackle summer setups festooned with this type of Trump-inalia...huge posters of him as Rambo, all manner of flags and talismen to Dear Leader that were just plain bizarre. A little scary too...all the sorts of stereotypical MAGAt TrumpWorld insignia and statuary and almost shrine-like collections of ersatz wealth. Plastic and fake.

Pot, meet kettle:
Like all those people that wear Harley Davidson gear with tribal names on the back mimicking Hells Angels or the 1%ers, or maybe the same as those groups that where all black and terrorize places of business and take over places like Seattle city hall. OR heck, even those people that shoot senators trying to play baseball, or the guy that tried to stab Lee Zeldin, or the home of cocaine Mitch vandalized.

Re: Orange Duce
the right wing NY POST has finally awakened to the truth that tRump is nothing more than a con artist:
Don’t give any money to con artist Trump
https://nypost.com/2022/12/15/dont-give ... ist-trump/
He raised nearly $100 million promising to “stop the steal” and spent almost none of it on lawsuits or inquiries related to 2020 — because he knew, despite his rhetoric, that there was no steal. He sent emails about how important the midterms were, then banked most of what he raised for his endorsed candidates. These war chests pay for the salaries of families and allies, private jets, and expenses — and get funneled into Trump’s other companies through hotel bills, consulting, and fees.
CONservative tRump = CON artist. Only those who succumb to right wing delusionalism support him.

Before some have a cow over the Orange Cheato tax returns release - apparently one of the reasons for accessing the returns was to determine if the law requiring the IRS to annually audit the returns for both President and Vice President needs to be amended - turns out that during the first two years of DOPUS' term the IRS FAILED to audit the DOPUS' returns and STILL has not completed any kind of audit. They only started an initial audit when Congress asked for his tax/audit data in 2019. That audit has yet to be completed. During the same period the IRS did manage to "randomly" audit both Comey and McCabe.
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/12/20 ... -irs-audit
"WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service failed to audit former President Donald J. Trump during his first two years in office despite a program that makes the auditing of sitting presidents mandatory, a House committee revealed on Tuesday after an extraordinary vote to make public six years of his tax returns.
Mr. Trump filed returns in 2017 for the two previous tax years, but the I.R.S. began auditing those filings only in 2019 — the first on the same day in April the Ways and Means Committee requested access to his taxes and any associated audits, a report by the panel said. The I.R.S. has yet to complete those audits, it said, and the agency started auditing his filings covering his income while president only after he left office.
The revelation could transform the political context of the committee’s nearly four-year fight to obtain information about Mr. Trump’s taxes and any related audits. Its chairman, Representative Richard E. Neal of Massachusetts, had said the panel needed the data to assess the I.R.S.’s mandatory presidential audit program, but Mr. Trump’s lawyers and Republicans called that a pretext for a politically motivated fishing expedition.
The suggestion of dysfunction in the auditing program was an early takeaway in what could be a series of disclosures related to the release of Mr. Trump’s returns
It was not immediately clear why the I.R.S. delayed starting auditing the tax returns Mr. Trump filed as president.
John A. Koskinen, the former I.R.S. commissioner who served during the first year of Trump’s presidency, said in an interview that he was not involved in the presidential audit process and that he did not know why the audits did not occur.
“It does seem to me to be a legitimate question: If the I.R.S. had the responsibility and wasn’t auditing, what’s the explanation?” he asked.
Starting in 2018, the I.R.S. was run by a Trump appointee, Charles P. Rettig, who left the post last month. In 2016, Mr. Rettig, then a tax lawyer in Beverly Hills, Calif., published a column in Forbes that defended Mr. Trump’s decision not to release his taxes as a candidate.
The I.R.S. did not immediately comment on the matter after the disclosure late Tuesday. But Mr. Neal said that when the committee had inquired, “Rettig said at different points that they were simply outgunned” and that the I.R.S. said it lacked specialists capable of assessing Mr. Trump’s filings.
Mr. Neal’s report called for Congress to codify into law that the I.R.S. conduct mandatory audits of presidents while they are in office and to publicly disclose related information. It also said the I.R.S. “should provide adequate and appropriate staffing and resources necessary for a full and timely audit of the president,” including specialists on matters like partnerships, foreign income and financial products."

"Low on cash and running for president, Trump generated a windfall, The Times found in 2020.
When Donald J. Trump needed money in 2016, he engineered a sudden financial windfall: more than $21 million in what experts describe as highly unusual one-off payments from the Las Vegas hotel he owns with his friend, the casino mogul Phil Ruffin.
The money came at a crucial time for Mr. Trump, whose “self-funded” presidential campaign was short on funds and his golf courses and the hotel he was about to open in Washington were eating away at what cash he had on hand.
Tax records of Mr. Trump’s previously obtained by The New York Times cast a light on Mr. Trump’s financial maneuverings in that time of fiscal turmoil and unlikely political victory. The tax records, by their nature, do not specify whether the more than $21 million in payments from the Trump-Ruffin hotel helped prop up Mr. Trump’s campaign, his businesses or both. But they do show how the cash flowed, in a chain of transactions, to several Trump-controlled companies and then directly to Mr. Trump himself.
The bulk of the money went through a company called Trump Las Vegas Sales and Marketing that had little previous income, no clear business purpose and no employees. The Trump-Ruffin joint venture wrote it all off as a business expense.
Experts in tax and campaign-finance law consulted by The Times said that while more information was needed to assess the legitimacy of the payments, they could be legally problematic.
“Why all of a sudden does this company have more than $20 million in fees that haven’t been there before?” said Daniel Shaviro, a professor of taxation at the New York University School of Law. “And all of this money is going to a man who just happens to be running for president and might not have a lot of cash on hand?”
Trump claimed he couldn't release his taxes because he was under audit......but it turns out he wasn't. His appointee to head the IRS took care of that
More evidence of more Orange Cheato corruption at the highest levels across the government - as Gomer Pyle once mused "Surprise, surprise, surprise!"

Meanwhile, I clicked over to Fox News last night just to see what c rap they were handing their audience. Surprise, surprise, surprise, talking heads and R members of Congress telling the uneducated that if the House can arbitrarily look at the president’s returns they can look at anyone’s.
And just to see how they were prioritizing this story this morning I took a look at their website. 43 stories to click on, none being related to the Trump tax returns. There was this one though, an incredibly earth shattering story that should have us all on the edge of our seat; “Husband and wife spar over dog brought home by just one of them.”

"Trump-era pardon recipients are increasingly back in legal jeopardy
Some experts connect the phenomenon to Trump's unorthodox approach to clemency.
An ABC News analysis of the 238 people who were pardoned or had their sentences commuted during the Trump administration found at least ten who have since faced legal scrutiny -- either because they are under investigation, are charged with a crime, or are already convicted.
Legal experts call this recurring theme unprecedented -- but not entirely unexpected, given the former president's unorthodox approach to the pardon process.
"President Trump bypassed the formal and orderly Justice Department process in favor of an informal and fairly chaotic White House operation, relying in some cases on his personal views and in others on recommendations from people he knew or who gained access to him in various ways," said Margaret Love, a lawyer who represents clients seeking pardons and a former U.S. Pardon Attorney, a Justice Department appointee who helps advise presidents on grants of clemency.
"So it might have been predicted," said Love, "that some who made it through that lax gauntlet were going to get in trouble again."
Those pardoned by Trump during his term in office included dozens of friends and political allies. The list included celebrities, lawmakers and former aides who had been convicted of crimes ranging from fraud to murder -- including four private military contractors who were in prison for murdering 17 Iraqi citizens, including two children, in a 2007 attack in Baghdad.
An analysis by two Ivy League academics determined that just 25 of those 238 pardons went through the Office of the Pardon Attorney, a small enclave within the Justice Department that fields clemency applications and examines the merits of each case before deciding whether to recommend a convict for presidential action. The researchers said that figure represented "an historic low."
"The process is supposed to be fair, it's supposed to be careful, it's supposed to be accurate ... and it's also supposed to be a process that helps predict who is not going to recidivate," said Larry Kupers, who served as the U.S. Pardon Attorney for more than two years at the beginning of the Trump administration."
What a surprise

Yep, claimed he'd drain the swamp.
How much richer is the swamp after four years of Trump? He made things WORSE, and MORE corrupt, not less. The 1%ers are richer than ever post Trump. Federal Government is bigger than ever after four years of Trump.
That's where the people who pay attention despise Trump: If he did even 25% of what he'd claimed he'd do when in office? I'd be personally carrying the man around on my shoulders.
Things like:
-Turn on Everify and hold big businesses responsible for corrupt labor practices. (forgot to do that)
-ACTUALLY standing up to China, and finding new trade partners (instead, he made things worse)
-cutting government (as you know, he instead blew the lid on spending, making the Federal government 66% larger)
-stand up for the little guy, and stick it to the insiders (instead, he cut his own taxes and the taxes of his rich buddies..and as I pointed out, Biden "forgot" to repeal these tax breaks)
-stop playing global cop and put America first (kept right on doing it)
So yep, Trump SAID those things that Dave points out, and got elected on them. BFD. What MATTERs is what he did.
He lied his *ss off to get in the White House, and didn't lift a finger to do any of his big claims. Surely you see this.
