You have to wonder if these kids are doing research on York. York already has three lefty attack on the roster and have 6 in the 2023 class.

I know some will be moved to middie. But seems to be overload for one position

I’m not too keen on why you keep bringing this up. They’re not lacrosse players who exclusively play the position on the field of left attack. They’re mostly A/M with a solid left/ left dominant. Every one of these kids can catch, throw and shoot righty too.

They’re not being “moved” to middie. Most of these players are already running A/M, just like the vast majority of the “attackmen” at York.

Perhaps the research they’re doing is showing them that with the way York swings players around in the box, their positional flexibility is a perfect fit for the offense, and for max opportunity to see the field. (It’s also likely the very reason York is consistently recruiting these type players).

I agree with this. The traditional notion of attackman or middies is kind of passe now as most kids will be coming in as offensive players which is very like what many of the most successful D1 programs do like say Duke, or UNC or Rutgers who has done this with some of their best players. Jacob Wilhelm (you know the guy who scored the winner against CNU0 came in as an attackman and then got switched to middie before going back to attack and he will probably play middie this year. I believe that Childs likes position flexibility as it helps him get kids on the field earlier. Most of the kids he is recruiting while maybe they are dominate with one hand can certainly play with both.

I had heard that York was close to getting a commit from
Washington state That is now being reported. I also heard that they are looking to bring in one more and that could be it for the 2023 class. The staff was out and about this weekend on Long Island. Looking at 2024’s

Not seeing York listed on the Towson/Bucknell scrimmages yet, as had been the case for recent memory. Hopefully that will be updated, as it’s always nice to see how the boys measure up.

I do not think the team has been told who they are a scrimmaging in the spring as of yet but I would anticipate them playing a similar preseason schedule as last year.

Spoke a little too fast as the Towson v. Bucknell scrimmage is at Bucknell and it does not appear that Bucknell has a second turf field.

I’m holding out hope. The time I attended (pre-COVID), it was just the three teams, at Towson, and they only used 1 field. The host getting the long break, it went something like Towson/Bucknell, Bucknell/York, York/Towson

I went last year and they had added CNU, which I can not imagine they would do going to Bucknell as that is a long bus ride. But look for York to travel wherever they go as the prep for long trips to W&L and RIT. I would love to see them get after Towson and Bucknell as I think that would help them get ready for there early season battles

I doubt the travel far in preseason. The team got on a bus at 6am and returned after midnight last month.

why put the kids through a long road trip in preseason, just to have a full day trip to Lexington, another full day trip to Rochester , with an almost full day trip to Salisbury, all in the first month.

Maybe a joint scrimmage with SMC and a hot community college like last year. Maybe Essex CC. SMC makes sense because they don’t play each other this year. His brother. And SMC only has one road game scheduled the first month.

If York gets a last min invite to Bucknell or someone similar (1hr trip), I can see that in preseason

I would also think that the shortened preseason may be an issue in terms of getting 2 scrimmages in prior to their Feb. 11th start. any January scrimmage would give them only a few days of practice prior to the scrimmage. I am sure you are aware that last year, they did exactly what you suggested in terms of scrimmaging SMC and then added Harford as well and I anticipate that would be the Feb. 4th scrimmage unless they only do one scrimmage and then maybe they do a multi-team scrimmage with teams nearby.

I just heard that there are 2 scrimmage dates on their spring calendar 1/28 and 2/4 with Harford CC being on the 1/28 date which could turn into a tri scrimmage and the 2/4 date against either a D1 team or a strong local team (think like Cabrini). Still a lot of speculation but we should find out something before the end of the semester.

Indeed. Good on Jayden Hull. He must embody the character, culture, and leadership that is so important in that locker room.

If that’s any indication, perhaps he is slotted as the primary LSM, and Greene moves back to close D?

I can’t wait to get more info on the scrimmages.

Congratulations to Jayden his selection just shows the depth of the character on the team as there were several qualified candidates.

Hull played exclusively at close in the scrimmages this fall and would likely be partnered with Blackmon and Biava. Greene is a force returning at LSM and is likely going to stay at LSM with Rutledge and Snodgrass as his primary back-ups

7 weeks until their first scrimmage and the kick-off of the 2023 season.
