Ron Desantis (The Desantis Doctrine)
Re: Ron Desantis (The Desantis Doctrine)
How has DeSantis improved Floridians' quality of life? We know he's taken jabs at Disney for being "woke," tried to taunt Dems by flying migrants to Martha's Vineyard and meddled in the Florida state universities. So, lots of "culture war" crud, and what else?
Re: Ron Desantis (The Desantis Doctrine)
He increased Big Florida Government by 10% in his first year...taking taxpayer money, and giving it to people and businesses that fall in line.FannOLax wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 10:49 am How has DeSantis improved Floridians' quality of life? And that wasn't a "jab" at Disney. He tried to punish a company financially for daring to oppose him. If Americans don't understand that this is the literal definition of fascism, I can't help them.
Re: Ron Desantis (The Desantis Doctrine)
"Leadership" is running to Federal taxpayers, demanding help? Do you remember how DeSantis handled this request when he was a Congressman, Petey? That's right. Hey Pete: I thought socialism was bad? What happened to that?
So now in Pete's world, "paid for services via mandatory taxation'.
Here's a few things that fit that bill, Pete.
-Government health care. Pay your mandatory tax, get your service (Health Care)
-Government run amusement parks. Pay your mandatory tax, get your service (Rollercoaster rides for "Free")
-Government run shoe factory. Biden thinks Nike is too expensive. So starts a mandatory tax, opens a shoe plant, and makes shoes for all Americans for free.
That's your definition is it? The above examples aren't socialism for Pete? Awesome. Told ya you didn't know what socialism or communism was.
I have to ask: what the F do you think socialism is, Pete? Been asking you for years, and you STILL can't tell me.

Seeing how Florida gets battered by ever-worsening storms, I also wonder if DeSantis has acknowledged climate change (something many Republicans are loathe to do), and taken steps to minimize its negative impacts.

He's not my governor, but I don't think that 1,000 people every day move to Florida because they have air conditioning.
Desantis got endorsements from all manners of environmental groups including the very influential Everglades Foundation. Partly why he won a purple state by 20%. If you stopped listening to the ignorant hysterics on the Left about Desantis, you'd do the same thing I do for Polis in Colorado; give him credit for opposition party support.

You noticed that he can't answer this very simple question, did you?
Here's the answer: Petey is a 1%, and DeSantis is lining his pockets. Notice how many Republican politicians he's met, and "knows"?
He's feeding at the taxpayer trough. And DeSantis can give him favors.
Same reason Trump had Hillary and Bill at his wedding......

We enjoy the weather down here in the winter, like millions of others. The one thing that is off-putting are the politics, eg the unrestricted, dumb development policies over decades, the gross under investment in education, etc...but weather makes up for a lot if you have the luxury of being in a great location and don't have kids to raise.FannOLax wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 1:10 pmEver since the advent of air conditioning, Florida's population has been steadily growing, presumably because of its weather and beaches. DeSantis began his governorship well on the environmental front, seemed like he might be able to govern to the middle, but then he tacked hard right to appeal nationally to MAGA-world. A shame.
But he's dead to me now.

I've actually never said that, MDLax. You are more than willing to keep lying here about me with another poster, but you will continue to be incorrect. I attended UNC and crossed over with both Klarmann and Haus, ie: the worst 4 years of UNC's lacrosse history.
That said, I don't come on social media to discuss me or that particular team primarily because everyone there is my friend or acquaintance. You seem to always want people to recognize your days at Dartmouth though.
Desanntis is popular not because of your insane allegations of racism or whatever other heroin kick you're on day to day, but because he might be one of only a small handful of politicians who gets shi! done, all the while maintaining a low tax environment.
