Kids can certainly do worse things than wind up on Scratch…though I grew up using it occasionally, I wound up a CS major working at startups, and honestly I think those things were unrelated. Valuable to get them writing actual code, maybe on replit, as early as possible. Still, as far as online “games” go, Scratch isn’t the one you should be avoiding…Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:49 amThanks, we've only scratch the rules. Every time I let him research on my laptop I come back and my son is on either Roblox or this coding game put out by MIT called scratch and ive been deficient in getting fully up to speed myself.Njlaxx11 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:16 amyes - defenses are dropped automaticallyFarfromgeneva wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:10 amForgive my ignorance but do we reselect defenses each year?
This is what my boy and I were handed over so thought unless I dropped it I gots Navy D?
Re: 2023 Fantasy Lacrosse Draft
Will take me a bit to pick (apologies, I’m trying to get over an awful illness and just now waking up), but there will definitely be nobody passing me…tougher time decide than most years because there’s just so much talent left on the board. It’s a fun draft! This could’ve easily been the field of freshmen available for my first round pick, in a normal year where we weren’t adding new teams.

Will Replit help you make your pick?Lax1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:29 pm Kids can certainly do worse things than wind up on Scratch…though I grew up using it occasionally, I wound up a CS major working at startups, and honestly I think those things were unrelated. I generally try to avoid Syracuse like the plague, but I'm betting on a day 1 starter in a hopefully-newly-high-powered offense. Who happens to be one of the most accurate shooters in the country.

Well, you're dropping a FOGO, so that's smart.

Agreed and thanks, just sometimes feels like a game to him, but making learning a game isn't bad either I realize.Lax1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:29 pmKids can certainly do worse things than wind up on Scratch…though I grew up using it occasionally, I wound up a CS major working at startups, and honestly I think those things were unrelated. Actually he's pretty smart, hope I just transfer my intergenerational baggage to him - had CNBC on this am and he was asking about the market futures changing in repsonse to certain macro data that was being reported and he asked what a market was. I of course explained how a market is anything where people come together to exchange things of perceived value and how prices get set in the world but that Socrates described a marketplace of ideas. 70% went over his head but he goes "so its a system where I'd create a variable and rule and there would be an outcome?"
I was blown away. 4th grade. He's going to get on here eventually, I've just been slow rolling setting up his account. We just started allowing him to ride his bike unaccompanied off this block literally this week. He loves the freedom and indpendence and sorta earned it.
Ultimately this is his team but he needs to get far far far up to speed on a lot of things. Eventually you'll all meet FFG 2.0 (or as he likes to call it and actually got hats for he and I that say "xxx name, the legend" and "xxx name, the legacy").
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Re: 2023 Fantasy Lacrosse Draft
I keep wondering. Jason Knox was really marginalized as the season progressed last year. Different frame but a stud box/candian crease guy yet by second half of the season he was hanging out top left out of offensive sets. Myers is known as a disciplinarian and I don't know this young man, but someone floated he missed some time last year for reasons not related to injury and of his own doing. Rumor, so could be BS, but have been wondering how he'd fit in for a while. He was reportedly going to St Joes for the year and then it switched to OSU. PResumably that was an acceptance matter given it happened over the late spring and summer.
Kid is a very talented player and Myers seems to make the kids around him better so great opportunity for both the team and the young man no doubt.

Bottomline, each coach has 24 hours to make their pick.

Thanks. I missed that. McGovern GR should definitely get a lot of time on the field and score this spring.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 11:31 pmI dropped them all in one post. They all left!

Here’s hoping! I haven’t seen a lot from fall - apparently he’s been injured. Seems like it’s him or Knox for the 3rd spot and one of them should probably be with the first midfield.
