Not only is it not a first, but it also happened last year! Maddog selected the Syracuse defense with the 5th pick overall. FCA must think this strategy will work well for him, unlike how it worked for Maddog.

Like UK said, FCA can do this because of what he has on his roster. He literally kills the draft every season. Last year he got Shane Knobloch and he sniped me on Sam English in the first 2 rounds. Defense was probably his weak spot last season. So he fixed that.

FCA returns a complete roster, complemented by an excellent midfield draft last year. Drafting G'Town D makes perfect sense.

He didn't draft any freshman last season, so no sophomores on the roster yet

Mac Haley will likely be a bigger fail than the SU D in 2022 and, as you will probably hold onto him for the coming 4 seasons, may even tank your squad indefinitely. Big mistake. BIG mistake.
