As expected, Glenzilla weighs in on the Assange matter...

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT’S INDICTMENT OF JULIAN ASSANGE POSES GRAVE THREATS TO PRESS FREEDOMS

"So much of what has been reported today about this indictment has been false. Two facts in particular have been utterly distorted by the DOJ and then misreported by numerous media organizations.

The first crucial fact about the indictment is that its key allegation – that Assange did not merely receive classified documents from Chelsea Manning but tried to help her crack a password in order to cover her tracks – is not new. It was long known by the Obama DOJ and was explicitly part of Manning’s trial, yet the Obama DOJ – not exactly renowned for being stalwart guardians of press freedoms – concluded it could not and should not prosecute Assange because indicting him would pose serious threats to press freedom. In sum, today’s indictment contains no new evidence or facts about Assange’s actions; all of it has been known for years.

The other key fact being widely misreported is that the indictment accuses Assange of trying to help Manning obtain access to document databases to which she had no valid access: i.e., hacking rather than journalism. But the indictment alleges no such thing. Rather, it simply accuses Assange of trying to help Manning log into the Defense Department’s computers using a different user name so that she could maintain her anonymity while downloading documents in the public interest and then furnish them to WikiLeaks to publish.

In other words, the indictment seeks to criminalize what journalists are not only permitted but ethically required to do: take steps to help their sources maintain their anonymity. As long-time Assange lawyer Barry Pollack put it: “the factual allegations…boil down to encouraging a source to provide him information and taking efforts to protect the identity of that source. Journalists around the world should be deeply troubled by these unprecedented criminal charges.”

Dis - curious where do YOU weigh in on it?

I don't know enough to have a good opinion. But unlike the Dumpster I have some sympathy for those who speak truth against power.

What I really don't know, is whether Assange was in fact speaking truth, or whether he endangered people to get it.

Sean Hannity melts down over report that Russian state-run media uses his segments

"It’s been a rough week for Fox News’ Sean Hannity. First, special counsel Robert Mueller’s report showed the lengths to which President Donald Trump went to try to obstruct investigations into his campaign’s ties to Russian election meddling. Then, as The Daily Beast reported, Russian state-run media outlets used Hannity to downplay connections between the Trump campaign and Russia, repackaging Hannity’s defense of Trump’s attempted collusion for their own audiences.

The news that Russian state media was suddenly a huge fan of Hannity’s show apparently struck a nerve with the Fox News host, and he tried to defend himself by rattling off an incoherent list of far-right conspiracy theorists’ most triggering buzzwords."

Nice work, Comrade Hannitski

Open Defection?

Fox News’ Wallace Calls Out ‘Opinion People’ On Own Network For Twisting Mueller Letter

“But, you know, we have to deal in facts,” he continued. “And the fact is that this letter from the special counsel, and it was one of at least three contacts with the Attorney General between March 25 and March 27, was a clear indication that [Mueller] was upset, very upset, with the letter that had been sent out by the attorney general, and wanted it changed, or wanted it at least added to and the attorney general refused to do so. He felt the attorney general’s letter was inaccurate.”

https://www.earnthenecklace.com/sara-ca ... eer-facts/ So tell us all our petty little jaundiced friend why you hate women so much? You post idiotic links discrediting a woman who has spotless credentials as an investigative reporter because she has the audacity to go on Hannitys show. If you had a heart and any sense of decency you would apologize for your inflammatory rhetoric that was insulting and degrading to all women in our country trying to earn a living. :D

   So Green. So Gullible. There's a reason you're always so grumpy hulky...you believe a lot of tripe floating around out there.
“Fox News executives have asked Hannity to stop using this title on the grounds that Carter’s reporting is not vetted, and passes none of the network’s editorial guidelines,” the media news site reported. And even without any such dictate, Hannity’s hyping of “reporters” who don’t meet Fox’s news standards would be considered troublesome at any mainstream outlet."
When you higher ups at FOX ITSELF calling Carter's "credentials into question...well...that ought to send you somewhere other than a sycophantic, self-serving website that tries to boost her cred with vacuous praise.

Nice try, but major "miss"

Well explain to me where the self serving part comes into play? You made scurrilous accusations based on an article of questionable repute from one of your own favorite sources. The daily beast, that is my first choice for unbiased reporting... Why do you hate women so much Dis? I thought you were a better FLP type than that. Her credentials are right there to see Dis if you know how to read. Quit the Buffalo chips and explain to all of us why she doesn't have the credentials to be an investigative reporter. Be specific... explain to us here in your own words what you mean. Major fail on your part here oh jaundiced one...

:PSociety of Professional Journalists nationally recognized Sigma Delta Chi Award, California Newspaper Publisher’s Association Freedom of Information Act Award, Eugene Katz Award, National Headliner Awards, SPJ Awards... are these all lies Dis??? A better person would tuck their tail between their legs and make a humble apology... you have never claimed to be a better person have you Dis? :D

her husband was also blinded in combat in Iraq. She does have skin in the game when it comes to her reporting. She lives with the consequences every single day.

Why don't you tell us all about it. Maybe if your guy would stop sucking all the oxygen out of the room with his stupid tweets, some other stories might see the light of day. Even a good Hillary story can't make it to page one these days.

Her credentials? All of the credentials in the world doesn't mean qualified. You have made the point over and over regarding "Buzzy".

(It is certainly true of Peter Navvaro - "Navarro went to Tufts University on a full academic scholarship,[13] graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then spent three years in the U.S. Peace Corps, serving in Thailand.[7][17] He earned a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1979, and a PhD in Economics from Harvard." All of his education and he is still a moron of an economist.)

How do her credentials demonstrate credibility?

Fox’s Baier: Despite What Trump Says, ‘This Was Not No Collusion, No Obstruction’

..
The "news division" (hate using that word in reference to anything at Fox) is starting to push back on the "entertainment/propaganda division". Saw a report on Amash yesterday where he told his local constituents that he was for impeaching Trump and they should become familiar with what is really in the Mueller report. A little old lady who only pays attention to "conservative" news sources said she had heard nothing about any of this other than the report exonerated Trump - she would have to pay more attention.

Fox executives if they are any good, and I suspect they are, have to be concerned about a viewer backlash if the Mueller report breaks through. Some of these people actually believe the fair and balanced nonsense. They actually have an opportunity to get right with the world by now pushing the Mueller report as something their viewers should pay attention to.

Fox is definitely starting to show some cracks between news and entertainment.

Brett Baier is about as fair and balanced as Fox's news can get....guess he is now a Rino. ;)

Baier always impressed me more as a water carrier for the "entertainment" side of the house, even though he worked for the "news" side. I prefer Shep Smith to Baier or Wallace. I sometimes wonder what Wallace's father thinks of him working for Faux News. Smith is the only one I would tend to believe prior to checking with other non-Fox sources. Even he is corrupted sometimes by the company he keeps. The fact that Baier and Wallace are "rebelling" speaks volumes. Doesn't take a genius to realize the fact that the emperor having no cloths will at some point come home to roost. The "news" side of the house is right to be concerned.

Hate to rain on C&S's parade, but Carter is a problem as a reporter(although very cute). I can see why other "newsmen" would have a problem with her. Her research is generally (not always) pretty thin. Her signature award Sigma Delta Chi has been awarded to lots of journalists, 6.5% of those who apply for the award (that's right you have to personally apply - it is not a nominated award) are awarded. It is not a Murrow. She is a run of the mill reporter in this day and age of the dumbing down of America (the World).
