DU smoked SJU
Starters played 2-3 Qs
SJU offense anemic
DU dominated ground balls

Let’s hope it’s just a scrimmage and they haven’t caught the “disease of me” that Pat Riley talks about
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Levi Anderson and Levi Verch looks like they were pulling
double duty as they’re both listed on Team Canada rosters,

also I did not see Zach Cole facing off against the Pios.

Anyway, a couple good high level tests for St Joe’s
and definitely, a wake up call.

They played better against Team Canada - the Curtis Dickson, Mike Robinson, Owen Hiltz, Ben McIntosh, Jonathan Donville team
- 12-7 Canada the last score they posted.

The final score was team Canada (white) 13-7 over St Joes. Mike Robinson had three goals. Levi Anderson played on the Canada white team and scored a goal. Later the Canada Red team beat Canada White easily. This morning the Canada White team doubled up Albany 14-7. Canada Red is currently trouncing St Bonnie’s 12-0.

Canada Red then must be the team they’re going with in
the World Games, though I can see them also pulling in
old-timers Curtis Dickson, Ben McIntosh and Graeme Hossack
into the final roster.

No Dillon Ward listed.
That’s interesting.
He’s not that old.
2x All-World Team (2014, 2018)
2x World Lacrosse Championships Most Outstanding Goalie (2014, 2018)
1x World Lacrosse Championships MVP (2014)

Yeah I watched some of yesterday St Joes looked sloppy. Not having Levi Anderson hurt them offensively and Cole didn't face off against Denver. Only fall ball I would expect them to be better when it matters but they do lack speed on offense. To many big guys who can shoot they need someone who can create. Lacalandra would have been big if he didn't decide to switch to Ohio State.

1. Richmond/St Joes
3/4. UMass/HPU
5. Bart
6. St Bonny

I’d like to think Bart will be more competitive in general but 23 is going to be a rebuild of the offense. Not sure HPU may not be up there either.
Its too early, but schedules across the board should improve as
top 10 or so teams see the upside strength of schedule-wise to
playing A-10 teams,

so far, I’m seeing Jacksonville - HPU on the schedule,
and St. Bonnies - Syracuse,

edit: adding also, Richmond - Maryland,

they’ll need a 7th team to guard against losing the automatic
qualifier, though at this point I don’t see any school wanting to
exit a coveted A-10 spot,

recruits will eventually see the benefit in choosing an A-10
school competition-wise,

so far though, I’m only seeing Richmond as having any recruits
among the anointed “Top xxx” IL or NLF ratings for 2022,
I have not tracked same for 2023, but I suspect you’ll see
many more A-10 recruits on these lists.

UMass has had plenty in the past and will get their again I’m sure. Maybe RoMo or Butler brings lax back. In the 90s and 2000s Hobart would get them. Most recent was Ryan Archer who was around 60th I’m the Il top 100 in 2017. St Joes let’s them season elsewhere and gets them as transfers. St Bonny is going to to be canadian heavy for a while but those kids don’t make the liars as easily. Mearns is all in on Canada though.

The IL jinx ?

Saint Joseph’s will win an NCAA game

This isn’t really a hot take when you consider how close they were against Yale in the NCAA First Round last year, but I’m all in on the Hawks and their ability to make a run. They were the team about whom I came away from fall practice visits feeling most confident.
My feeling is the A10 is going to be extremely difficult to get
out of and into the NCAAs this season - so no anointing a
number one right now.

What's going to suck for me is rooting for our experienced and pretty tough D to beat the ish out of Derrek Madonna because I loved watching him for us and know a guy from Skaneateles that knows the family and reports that they are as high quality as they come. But still you leave you fair game.

St. Bonaventure now has three 2023 commits from the powerful MIAA in Maryland, as well as two others from the DC area. Wow, it would be great seeing them win the Atlantic 10 sooner than many people think.

Interesting IL article on St. Joes rise. Coach Wray talks about becoming a fully funded program as being key to their rise. Hope he is correct. The '23 recruiting class will be the first one that we have any athletic scholarships (3) to offer. . We won't have the full 12.6 the '26 recruiting circus. On to the season...

Of course Hobart would’ve fully funded the program 20yrs ago had the NCAA allowed us to. That wasn’t an administrative constraint in Geneva but an issue driven from Indianapolis.

If a school is fully funded and gives out a generous amount of merit aid it is nearly the equivalent of doubling your scholarship $$$. Ivies with no athletic $ and no merit aid but most are now wanting all of their students to graduate debt free so that is a big advantage. Need based aid is massive in the Ivy League. Big!0 and ACC teams have limited merit based aid and some need based aid, but the tuition for in state kids is much less. I think it’s a wash in the end. I would guess Hobart has provided significant merit and need based aid to counter the lack of athletic $
