IMO some kids go because they love lacrosse and the Army traditions, some always wanted WP since they can remember and use lacrosse has an entry point. for some its following a family member, for some its a $$ issue. for some its through connections (favor ) they play maybe one semester and quit. but make no mistake 98% of kids on team can play at a high level.
Good to know that one of the few unchanged traditions is the (proper) hatred between Sluggos and Corps Squaders.
My son did an overnight at West Point way back when. They told him the same thing- the athletes were not liked by the general student body.

Having watched Colsey live a handful of times he will need to adjust his game…a lot. He has tremendous speed and is a decent shooter. He shoots too much, he’s a volume shooter (think Dylan Pallonetti w better speed) and will have to become a better passer. Does he have top 10 talent, no doubt but he isn’t a sure fire starter year 1. The strange things about UVA is they have a basic offense which isn’t predicated on ball movement, cutting and passing; with all these great pieces they will need to transform to mesh these guys together. They do a ton of 1 on 1 dodging and try to stuff the ball inside. If they run the typical UVA O a lot of guys will be standing around.

Great problem to have but they will need to change what they do in order to maximize these pieces.

1. Didn’t they ride this “basic” offense to two of the last three championships?
2. It seems like an offense that is predicated on dodgers who have the ability to beat their men would want an offensive player with A+ speed and quickness, but maybe I’m missing something

Cormier might be a C+ for speed and quickness…..

Didn’t actually specify the Colsey but I guess he meant K based on the thread. With so many AA from top tier programs coming in, I don’t think anyone is a sure fire day 1 starter. Agree they are signing up a huge number of amazing attack-men who do well with the ball in their stick. Lars is not going to run Princeton 1995 and have someone holding and probing at X for 3 minutes (and can’t with the clock) but yes, Kyle and the rest of the fleet of offensive all stars who are coming the next 3 years (counting current freshman including Colsey the elder) are going to need to move the rock more than they did in high school. Don’t think that is going to be a problem and if it were to be it would be a problem 99% of programs would love to have.

Ok, but some players beat their man by going around them and a few go over or through them. He is an incredibly productive and dominating presence as a scorer with 50 goals last season.

I am a big Cormier fan. I first heard his name from a Canadian college player who was playing on a team with him in the Summers….. he was in the 8th grade. I was just joking about his speed. He’s more Dylan Molloy and less Matt Moore/Schellenberger. Nothing wrong with that.
