This seems like the most unlikely duo you'd ever see on stage, just sounded crazy when I first heard these two were performing together. Alison is gold, 27 Grammy Awards, had the most for a long time, Beyonce recently passed her with 28. Krauss' voice is incredible, seems to sing effortlessly and her enunciation is to perfection. Been a big fan of hers for a long time.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 12:12 am Just got back about a half hour ago from seeing Robert Plant and Alison Krause-make up for a show that got rained out early in June. He’s the same guy. Voice, maybe cant hammer and hold the top pitch notes but it was excellent and their combined music is very good.

Real recognizes real (plant and krauss). Have a new record out with two songs from a Scottish folk singer as tribute too they did.DMac wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 7:23 amThis seems like the most unlikely duo you'd ever see on stage, just sounded crazy when I first heard these two were performing together. Even with the current emphasis on our racial differences, the people who disapprove of interracial interracial marriage is so small as to be insignificant. This Gallup poll tracks sentiment since the 1950's. Most people, of all races, would rather be forward looking than rehash the sins of the past. It is less safe to drive and get where you are going if you're always looking in the rear view mirror.

This fixation on race is either some form of guilt or a political cudgel to divide people and make them easier to control. I'm betting on the latter.

High school volleyball game with interesting sound track.
More info on volleyball incident: https://illinoisusanews.com/students-we ... xas/60948/
A McClatchy reporter then notes another incident in a Texas High School, just a few days earlier: https://www.star-telegram.com/news/stat ... 30076.html
Seems there are a number of racist incidents taking place in Texas womens high school volleyball in this new school year.

Do these kind of things happen occasionally? Yes. Probably should raise the draft and voting age back to 21. To my way of thinking, you having to point out these sporadic incidents casts a shadow over any sort of "systemic racism" argument . The fact that these incidents are less prevalent than ever is a testament to our valuing each other based on on what is on the inside. The whole racism industry is a way to divide us and get paid at the same time.jhu72 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:15 am High school volleyball game with interesting sound track.

What, all the models are white? Geez, if aliens were studying the world through American TV commercials they would think we were roughly 40% gay, 50% interracially married and all white men are stupid. They might be somewhat right about the last part. As far as the mill, maybe we should just demolish any building built before 1965. Then we don't need to worry about being triggered. After all, most construction unions were lily white before the civil rights movement, especially in racist bastions like Boston.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:02 amInteresting analysis. Imagine if Colin Kaepernick had done this!
https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/14/us/brett ... index.html
"Among the “questioned” spending is a series of payments made to Favre by the Mississippi Community Education Center.
The audit shows that Favre Enterprises was paid $500,000 in December 2017 and $600,000 in June 2018 in return for speeches at multiple events. The auditor’s report, however, states that “upon a cursory review of those dates, auditors were able to determine that the individual contracted did not speak nor was he present for those events.”"

Re: Is America a racist nation?
I can never help but think that when there are multi millions of other people's dollars floating around like that, that there are too many foxes in the coups that the money is being held in, the foxes are going to feed themselves well. I'd be more surprised if this isn't pretty much common place than if it isn't. Sounds like Nancy is going to have to change the spelling of her name to Knew. Volleyball world seems to be serving up a lot of scandals lately, w*tf is going on there? Just awful stuff, the penalty for this has to be significant.
Kaepernick? Would definitely be a firestorm, a really big one. Wonder what Stephan A. and LeBron would have to say about it?

Re: Is America a racist nation?
I urge everyone to watch PBS' "The US and the Holocaust", beginning tonight at 8.
From a discussion between Burns and Speilberg here:
https://www.pbs.org/kenburns/us-and-the ... -spielberg
"KEN BURNS: I think that we see ourselves as an exceptional nation. If we are exceptional, and I think we are at times, we also must be harder on ourselves than anyone else. And we must come to terms with our great failings.
One of the most significant of these, I think, was our failure to respond adequately to the Holocaust. The United States let in more refugees than any other sovereign nation, but had we done 10 times that many, we still would have failed. Had we done 20 times as many, we still would have failed. We like to see ourselves in our simplistic, sanitized Madison Avenue view of history as a good people and a nation of immigrants welcoming others.
But we’ve in fact been as unwelcoming as we’ve been welcoming. And at the time when the Jews of Europe needed us most, with the power and the space to take them in and embrace them, we failed. From 1870 until 1920 we accepted many, though not all seeking to come to America. But we passed restrictive immigration laws in '21 and '24 and those quotas favored Arian and Nordic races as the National Socialists would say, and though it didn’t mention Jews, it put at the lowest end those countries which had the greatest number of Jews. And that bureaucratic glove was cruelly applied. But even after we knew what had happened, only 5% of Americans wanted to let in more Jews, even when we saw the results of the liberated concentration camps and saw what had happened."
So, how does something like this happen, and is it happening today? China? Uyghurs? Central American states? Plane trips to Martha's Vineyard?
If this awareness is "woke", then wake the fnck up, America!
