Tough night for shooting. Teams in the first games netted 10 of 50 shots. In game 2, 18 of 50 went in. Combined, the four teams shot 28%. I point this out only to underscore how much harder it is to score in AU than in college — McCool and Gilbert shot a combined 0 for 15. They are both obviously excellent players.

The AU is like the wild, wild, west....a lot of shooting just for shooting sake. McCool's shooting has been pretty rough and Gilbert takes A lot of shots. But if you are the best of the best you should be able to score with some accuracy...since you have the ability to place your shots

5 TO....whoa

Trenchard and friends (the double came when needed and was very effective) caused CN to make some passes and take some shots that wouldn't have been ones on her preferred list. As noted earlier Trenchard can muscle up with CN, she can't bull her way by her like she can so many others. Trenchard digs in and uses her stick and body very effectively, she must be a really strong girl. Again, very impressive D player who does pretty much everything right...position, feet, stick, a clinic for young D players.
This is not a knock on CN, it's directed at the hyperbolists (new word), sensationalists, exaggerators, and the sales machine that is Charolette North Is The Greatest Player of All Time (that would be Paul Carc, Joe B, and a big handful of others (which includes one on this site). This level of competition has exposed those folks as either ridiculously biased, blind, or salespeople with an agenda.

I suspect CN and ET like playing against each other. Both are surely great competitors. They had some titanic battles the last two years in college (and maybe before). I'm sure they went toe to toe in US practice. And now they have had several matchups in AU.

But last night's battle will be the last one at least until next summer (if AU returns). Too bad as the match ups are fun to watch.

The focus and intensity is very much Apuzzo like. Oh, and you

Man, Gilbert is so, so, so quick and fast it's just crazy. Made a quick move and bolted to the cage but hit the pipe on the shot, Team J lucky on that one. Just can't keep up with that gal. Intense game, second half's gonna be a war.

Gilbert is fast but takes so many shots, the amount of shots v goals and turnovers in the league is crazy. Prob because they dont call 75% of the fouls.

Good goalie play in this game and, in general, in the league this summer.

Joe commented that Majorana may hang them up after this year. Hope not. She is fun to watch.

Nary a word ever spoken about the greatest of all time/the great one were the rules of the two games the same.
These girls have figured her out, with no shooting space and FPS (as you would get in college) she's not nearly the
the threat she was in the college game. Lack of speed doesn't help her against this level athlete either.

Thought Apuzzo was looking a little out of sorts during a chunk of the last game, thought maybe the pressure had
gotten to her a little. Missing shots, bad pass, missed pass, all out of Apuzzo character. With a few minutes left,
only a three point lead, she scores three goals, comes out with the ball after a dog fight at the end line (did this
the game before too) which resulted in a goal, hounding on the ride....was all Apuzzo like down the stretch. Crazy
good player.

Ally M didn't look her usual self in the last game, something just off with her. Not so today, she's everywhere, coming
up with GBs, bringing the ball downfield, playing tough D...typical workhorse Mastroianna, Finally put one in too,
haven't been liking her shot, not changing levels and telegraphing a bit too much, was glad to see her put one by the GK.
Kent being Kent again, so much fun to watch.
Tied at 4-4 at the half.

Wow, T Moreno wins it 10-9, very competitive and good game.
Two pointers a real difference maker in this one, T Johansen
put the ball in the cage more times than T Moreno but Moreno had
two two pointers.
