If we're going to jump on libs/dems for saying everything is racist....a hand sign, or using the word monkey when referring to the "error" of voting for a black political opponent...... then you have to be fair and look at what Joe is REALLY saying here. When he says "dregs", he doesn't mean the average Trump voter...he means the White Power wankers that Trump failed to condemn when given the chance.

FoxNation is all over Biden for this. My question is: are we taking what politicians says and assuming worst, or aren't we? Let's pick one and stick to it. Partisans give "their guy" the benefit of the doubt, and make fun of the other side for making hay where there's nothing there. And yet when the shoe is on the other foot? You know the rest.

As for me, Biden is responsible for what he says. He's on the hook for calling Trump voters dregs. So guess what that means? When a politician uses the phrase "monkey up", he's on the hook for that, too.

You know what is odd and maybe I am the one with the problem or normalcy (thumb and forefinger on chin, thinking), I never once connected Biden's "dregs" comment to white supremacy and I certainty did not connect "monkey things up" with racism. I suppose I am either too naive or just plain dumb...and I am happy being called either. But I did exactly what you suggest "I picked one" and did not see or hear a racist tone. What I did do, is thought....this sounds like HRC with the "deplorable" comment....which in my mind was anyone for DJT. you could make an argument that because the dems have built an entire political machine around the nuanced use of language to divide people into sub-groups, that they should be more intentional with phrases like these and therefore held to a higher standard.

having said that - every listener is going to come away with their own interpretation of the meaning of the speaker. And their interpretation is going to be all muddled up in both their own personal biases, and their perceptions of the personal biases of the speaker. That seems to be what has happened in both instances.

Although I will say, that the word "dregs" is in and of itself a derogatory word. There really is no "innocent" interpretation of its use, except feeling justified in its application to a certain group.....

A bunch of posts making fun of socialism, coupled with photos of the same posters sitting in a football stadium that was bought and paid for by taxpayers, rooting for their favorite State Government Football team, that is actually funded by the Federal Government. THAT is the average Trump supporter...they are too stupid to understand what they really believe in. Which would be fine by me, except they're taking MY MONEY at that stupid football game while I'm here at work actually contributing to GDP.

And if you ask these super-brilliant Trump fans that are sitting in the government bleachers if "big government is bad", every one of them will say yes. And then turn around and root for their government team.

For example, show us a breakdown of the cost overruns for the Aurora VA hospital , in detail, as to WHO got rich. What's that, can't find it in any Denver papers? On NPR this morning, Jon Oates mockingly asked the Democratic candidate for Massachusettes (her way) Governor about one of his PLANS to tax pretend "non-profit" universities/colleges that have endowments of $1 Billion or more. "Have you talked to any of them" Oates asked in a condescending tone. The candidate (don't know who he is) said "no", but went into detail all the services that the colleges get from the taxpayers. If he only went further and talked about all the Federal Tax dollars (welfare) that these HIGHer educational institutes get to pad their endowments. (Doubtful that the Mass. legislature (mostly Dems) would ever do this b/c investment houses make a good nut from "managing" their endowments and they would lose a cut and not be able to afford by english tying joint additions )
