Damn, just can't beat Team Apuzzo, 8-5 final.
Big guns step up to put it away. North with a
huge two pointer from way out beats the shot
clock by 2 seconds. Apuzzo and Mastrioanni
control the draws. Game was a game of D and
GK play. Another good game.

5-3 Team Johansen at the half.
Captain Johansen still too much in love with that 2 point shot.

So never mind -- at least in part -- my earlier posts about ESPN shifting games from broadcast to +. Apparently the idiot user couldn't figure out his own DVR. Upon further review, said user did successfully record three games.

Just watched the very exciting OT game. In a real, meaningful game I'd prefer that they keep playing OT periods until someone scores, but in the make believe world, I kinda liked the shootout. Different to be sure and pretty exciting. I have to add an addendum to my stock speech to friends who are goalie dads. Not only is being a goalie dad in OT really tough; being a goalie dad in a shoot out is even tougher.

Draft day for week three teams. Do you have to have YouTube TV (I don't) to see this?
If not how do you get to it (couldn't figure it out last week)?

Try the AU website which currently shows a link to the wlax draft at 7 p.m.

Can't swear this will work, but somehow I was able to watch the draft last week on a link in some AU tweet that came across my phone. And I don't have youtube tv.

Found it, njb, thanks again.
My gal Ally M goes #1, Team Johansen.
North #2 to Team Colson.

Ortega not on the board of available players.

2. Charlotte North
3. Dempsey Arsenault
4. Marie McCool

Round two picks for each team:

5. Ally Kennedy

Your new teams for week three. First game on ESPNU Thursday at 6:30, Colson v Apuzzo, second one on ESPN2 at 9:00, Moreno v Johansen.
I've come to kind of like the switching up of teams in this league, it makes sense given the number of players and teams. If one team were just better than the rest and another one just really not very good and two were mediocre. everything would be way too predictable and not very entertaining. The switching up of teams keeps things interesting and is a unique twist which I think works in this league. Injuries (Wood and Ortega...a couple of difference makers) really throws a lot garbage in the game when you're dealing with such small rosters to begin with. Growing pains you just have to live with but you really do need more players.
As far as this league making it long term and the number of people tuning in, I really don't care in the moment. I'd like to see a pro league make it for the women but for the right now I can very much enjoy watching these gals play these games. They're able to do things (much to the disdain of many no doubt) in this league that they just couldn't do in the college game and I do like it a lot so lucky me and you won't hear any/much complaining from me about this league. I'm watching superb wlaxers playing in July and August, what's to not like?
New word for you, cheezelle (cheetah and gazelle), that's what Becca Block runs like.
Tune in and enjoy the games.
Oh, and I think DMac was kinda right about where Ally Mastroianni would be chosen. :D

ESPNU had the UNC v Stony Brook, v Northwestern, v BC games on back-to-back to back yesterday. To eliminate any suspense, UNC won them all and won the title. Really good games, watched a good part on the Stony Brook and BC games, didn't see any of the Northwestern game. After watching the World Tourney and now AU lacrosse, what really struck me was how crowded the field looked. The 10 v 10 game really is a different game all over the field and of course particularly so at each end. Man, what a difference!

This was a fun game to watch and I
think Apuzzo must be part German
Shepherd, she's just incredible.
Let’s just keep changing the womens game - throw out a shoot out now too…🙄

Seems like 20-25% of the players are wearing tape or other injury-related paraphernalia. And we are only halfway through the season.
It was like this the first weekend of the UWLX title game. I seem to remember that the New England team had only one sub available in the title game. It was played in 95-degree heat the same weekend of that torrential flood that swamped and flooded Ellicott City.

I thought I was watching soccer...

Also, I say it all the time but if I was starting my own team Appuzzo would be my first choice. Every time.
