Johns Hopkins 2023
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Question for the Hop faithful. Why is Quint not in the national HOF? Four time AA, two time Kelly goalie of the year, national champ. It’s been 32 years since he graduated, while two other well deserving goalies who came later than him (Bacigalupo and Dougherty) made it in half that time.

Quint K should absolutely be in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.Comeonman wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 10:57 am Question for the Hop faithful. Why is Quint not in the national HOF? firstly, someone needs to nominate him.... so there's that.Comeonman wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 10:57 am Question for the Hop faithful. Why is Quint not in the national HOF? also, the candidate needs to accept and go thru application process. i know guys who've waited on that so their family/kids are old enough to appreciate, as one example.

No way the Jays would have one the '87 title without Quint in goal that year.44WeWantMore wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 6:38 am QK Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXnV9C6GRxE
I seem to remember they had a lot of injuries on the defensive side of the ball and couldn't match up Paul Gait in the '89 NC.
I believe that Adam Wright was also injured for the NC game. Hop actually won the opener against Cuse in '89.
Not only could QK really stop the ball, but he was pretty phenomenal outside the goal. He almost never made a mistake coming out of the goal.

Quint K is one of the greatest Hopkins goalies of all time, and one of the best goalies from any team in the past 50 years.
And pretty much all he gets is grief about his broadcast commentary.

Outside of Hop circles Quint is seen as the Terry Bradshaw of Lacrosse.
Good enough player back in the day, but media caricature now.
Methinks he would already be in the HOF if he didn't have his media gig going.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Whatever one thinks about his broadcasting there is no doubt he should be in the HOF, truly one of the best to ever play the position.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
No doubt he was one of the best goalies that I have every seen. However, he might have been overlooked as "one of the greats" since he followed Hall Of Fame goalie Larry Quinn, who was in the finals all four years winning in '84 and '85. LQ was not only the national goalie of the year both of those years, he was the national player of the year (Pre-Tewaaraton).
It is like Steve Young following Joe Montana for the Niners. Young never got as much credit.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Saw him play Virginia at Homewood, sat behind the goal. UVa were lazily moving the ball around the perimeter. Attackman throws a soft pass to X, and Quint comes out and ERASES the attackman (can't remember who). Casually moves the ball up the field. I had never seen a goalie do that before. He could have just plucked the ball.....nope, instead, I'm going to embarrass your attackman.Sagittarius A* wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 8:43 am

I saw several games from LoCascio and Schimoler in that NCAA era. To my eyes Quint was every bit as good they were in the cage, and it was no contest out of the cage. Quint was the best of that era for that.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
He and carc have been the tv voices of the sport for a long long time now. Whatever his career and credentials on the field, his ESPN work alone makes him an HOF and the school should be thinking about something for him as well. The program and schools brands look a lot different w/out the ESPN deal and work he's done there.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Hop played UMass at Homewood in the first round of the tourney in 89. Low scoring game. I think QK was fine, but Sal was out of his mind good.a fan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 12:21 pmSaw him play Virginia at Homewood, sat behind the goal. My first year of being a lax fan and Sal certainly made an impression on me. Who's that guy? But damn, he had quick hands.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Looking at the box score, Sal was indeed out of his mind that day----26 saves, and 74% save pcg.nyjay wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:08 pmHop played UMass at Homewood in the first round of the tourney in 89. Quint finished the day at 78% save pcg.
Saw Sal play at the Dome. Crazy quick hands.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
The opinions on Quint within the hop community are mixed. Outside of it less so with many not appreciating the level of arrogance he walks around with. I’m not going to argue his stats but it may explain why there hasn’t been a nomination.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Regardless of what you think of him as an announcer, Q should be a slam dunk for the HOF on the basis of his four years at JHU.
