Yes, indeed.

I would also look more at roster size/make up as opposed to record, for possible concerns (with any coach). Things do not always work on the field with 18-22 year olds, but that shouldnt stop you from having a minimum of 20 (healthy) guys out there competing.
First of all, ya better check your tone. I dont think you know who you're talking to. I'm Leonard Washington...I don't get butt naked for nobody!!

Framingham State seems to be starting a men's lacrosse team and is looking for a head coach.

In the posting it says "This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week."

Not a good look/way to start out, IMO

Genuinely asking: why would a school decide to start a program but not bother to even hire a single full-time person to run it?

Usually it is to boost enrollment and fill beds (unless there was a title IX issue). Could be looking to mirror the women's success (even though they have been around for 15 years) and may believe cheaper is better. Adminstration may also be naieve and think that since they are located in a hotbed state, it shouldn't be that hard to build a roster.

I hope I am wrong but this seems like they are doomed before they even get started.

At a school like Framingham State that has an established club program, there is going to be less start-up time and effort needed to field a team.
Framingham probably also has an infrastructure in place where they have a facilities group and equipment manager. With an established Women's program and Club Team in place, they have some institutional knowledge of the sport. With those ideas in mind, yes they can survive with a PT HC

That being said, can you have a successful program in the grand scheme of lacrosse without a Full TIme administrator attached to it? The answer is yes but the success of that program is going to look different than say Tufts or Salisbury. They just need to bring someone in who is willing to work in the systems that are in place, improve where necessary, and understand that it is going to be an uphill climb. The Massachusetts state school system has been lacking another D3 Varsity team since the UMD fiasco. Framingham, Bridgewater, Fitchburg, and Worcester would all be great places to add a varsity program and bring in 25-30 guys and have a good run. Regardless of whether the coach was FT or PT. But for the sake of argument, a FT administrator in this roll would be better for the growth of a program.

The Framingham thing is very interesting to me as I think there are a few Mass State schools who could really do NCAA D3 lacrosse up right if they wanted to, but based on a few things I've been told in the past few days, this posting is for their Club coaching job.

Framingham has a bunch of other coaching jobs posted on their HR site and since it's a slow day at the office, I decided to spend way too much time on this....

The postings for the jobs with their NCAA teams (Baseball, Football, Field Hockey) all have this line:
"Assist the head coach in the creation of individual plans, while adhering to all NCAA bylaws."

But the lacrosse posting has this wording:
"Create individual plans, while adhering to all governing body bylaws."

I gotta think they'd have added the NCAA language if this posting was for a soon to be NCAA team.

Also worth noting: The conference Framingham plays their sports in does not sponsor men's lacrosse. In fact only three schools who are part of the Massachusetts State University system* have NCAA teams: Salem State, Mass College of Liberal Arts and Mass Maritime...and they all play in different conferences.

*Apparently the UMass system with Boston, Lowell, Amherst and Dartmouth (RIP UMD Lacrosse) are state funded but are a part of a different thing???

Would be great to see a Framingham, Bridgewater, Westfield, Framingham or Worcester State add D3 Men's lacrosse; but I'm not sure it's happening with this Framingham posting.

Things must be slow in the Sports Information Department. Lol. I'm sure the official release is coming soon.

I had heard this is where he was going. Congrats to Hauk and the upgrade for him and his family.
