Cole Herbert to Rutgers? He had a Football offer there......could do both.
I don't think a D1 lacrosse scholarship player can also play another D1 sport anymore. Isn't that why Bernhardt had to transfer for his one year of football eligibility? He could have definitely made the Maryland football roster.
Jared talked with Maryland football HC and decided to go to a different school. Currently Dante Trader on Maryland football team first committed to MD as a lacrosse recruit and then a few weeks later as a football. At the moment he has said he plans to do both sports this coming season. He sat out lacrosse this past season.
Bernhardt tried out at Maryland or at least attended some practices and then talked with coaches about his chances of seeing the field. After this discussion he transferred. I am not sure if you can be on a lax scholarship and play another sport.
When Trader got the football scholarship Tillman no longer had to use scholarship money towards him. Lots of women play either soccer or field hockey in the fall and then play lacrosse in the spring.

It's official LIU SSDM Jake Murphy in the portal. 3 yr captain and lockdown defender will be a good pickup for a team needing a SSDM. Very athletic and fast. A lot of us fans and alumni were surprised he wasn't All Conference this yr. Him Lacy and Ritter were the best in the NEC. Another tough loss for LIU. Hate to see him go. He frustrated coaches hoping to attack the shorty because he is physical and great D. Started getting a lot of CTs this yr too. Could be a two way he has the ability. Great kid to so tough to be mad at him I wish him well. That's 3 top players gone and who knows how many more. LIU was on its way up and adjusted fast to the move to D1. Now back to rebuilding for the new coach. Still a good job the program has a good history. Long Island kids who don't want to go away or were overlooked by top schools go there.

can't think of any but probably sometime, somewhere. lots of it going the other way, with guys that did a cup of coffee and want a different experience.

the most famous alum of course was con bro chill, who took some of his success and legion of fans to the pros for a short stretch:

Curtis Zappala was a high rate out of Episcopal (PA),
decommitted from Maryland,
played Club at Drexel and then did well with Colorado’s
solid MCLA club team.

I suspect Zappala was at one point,

those were still the early recruiting days,

but it became clear by the time that class was seniors
that Ryan Conrad was going to be something else.

Reid Smith went from Florida State to Jacksonville last year as a Grad Student and provided 6 goals and 3 assists in 13 games. He was a USILA All American at Ponte Vedra for two years.

Galloway is on record saying he's keeping track of MCLA programs.

That was a tremendous class,
Grant Ament, Pat Spencer, Conrad,

Zappala must have had some game to get as high a rating as
he did,

Great article on why he walked away. The second commit in the class, just burned out on lacrosse and didn't think he had it in him to play high d1.

Always appreciated this from Tillman:
"Some people asked me, 'are you mad?,' and I tell them, 'no, I love Curtis. I'm not going to like a guy more or less based on whether he wants to play," Tillman said. "I want these guys to make life whatever they want it to be. Some people didn't understand that, but Curtis doesn't owe us anything. He's on a journey through life. I give him a lot of credit because he didn't feel like he couldn't fully commit to playing. Each guy is different, but there's a lot of commitment that goes into being a part of a Division I athletic team."

<snip>

"He would have had to earn his way, but it goes without saying, he seemed to make a mark on every team that he played on," Tillman said. "There was no reason to believe that he wasn't going to do the same for us. Curtis wanted to do a lot of other things other than play lacrosse, and with how much kids play now, it's easy to get burned out. We're always going to love him because he's such a good kid and we think so highly of his family. That's what I'm bummed out about the most – that we don't have him around as a person, let alone a player."
