What nonsense. Desantis is the most popular Governor in America today, primed to be re-elected by a nearly 20% margin, supported by Republicans and Democrats alike. But he’s ‘awful’ to MD.
It wound seen you have an aversion to successful conservatives. Why?

DeSantis will very, very likely win this round in Florida...true...but he's far from the most popular Governor in their respective states.
And he wouldn't get elected in any state wide election in my state...and we have a Republican governor, with popularity ratings regularly above 70%.

The rubber meets the road at election time, MD, not with your farcical numbers.
Hogan has been elected Governor of Maryland by 4 and 10%. Desantis won his first race by less than 4%, true. So let’s see if he outperforms your ‘more popular’ Hogan, by more than 10% this time. Then you can bleat about who’s more popular, okay?
For the people in the back row, the betting is Desantis by about 20% this go around.
For MD, a guy who claims he knows Florida when saying ‘Andrew Gillum is pretty awesome’, I dunno but I’d be holding my fire til the morning of November 9th before possibly being made fool of yet again.

No Petey, I too think Desantis will win easily in this round in Florida.
Florida is a red state; MD is a quite blue state.
Desantis has a strong 64% approval in his red state.
Hogan is 10 points higher...in a blue state.

Stacey Abrams, pushed this morning by both Fox and CNN, refuses to say she’d be good with any restrictions on abortion, up to the minute of delivery.
This is why Democrats can’t win this battle. For some cockamamie reason, the abortion industry have Democrats by the nu!-hairs, and they’re not able to be sane.
Just truly stunning stuff.

Or have you forgotten that your position during Covid was that the freedom from government intrusion was more important than keeping people from getting Covid, and dying?

I’m not certain your analogy works well. For starters, you can take the vaccine and still get sick, transmit the virus, even die, Secondly, because your boys at Fauci Inc shut down natural immunity as a response, the mandates might even up doing far worse damage to the population.
Yup, I have very little trust in the FDA, CDC, and WHO. I’m sorry, but that’s real talk.
But most importantly, Covid mortality for ages 0-29 is basically zero. Abortion mortality is 100%. I’m not sure you could find two more divergent pools.

The analogy is the that both you and Abrams have an unwillingness to allow the government to make your health choices for you.
That's it. That's the analogy. You agree with Abrams on that specific point.

Will it very interesting to see if certain politically oriented people will now adopt children who need homes and caring families. Since many more children will be born out of wedlock, social welfare costs will go up ~ will these folks now object to the increased taxes that will be the inevitable consequence? We shall see, won't we?

Re: The Abortion Thread
The next basic step IS supporting women and children more.
If the right was smart, they would embrace that message, and couple this decision with fully supporting associated child support, better tax breaks for adoptive/foster families, and supporting medical support bills, and push their political agenda that way.
It's a great opportunity for the right to pivot, and take away the left's favorite negative talking point.

Compromise and sensibility doesn't happen within the parties any more.
And it rarely happens when crafting bills. That would be too "extreme" of a shift for some members of the party who would be against such "handouts."
Just like the left wont come out and go against very late term abortions.
Both sides (and the vast majority of moderate people) could have "won" on this issue, but they both prefer to fight, not compromise, and stay entrenched in extremes and in stupidity. So we get the least appropriate governance.

The same idiots saying, “don’t have sex and you won’t get pregnant,” believe in a religion based upon the idea that a woman didn’t have sex and got pregnant.

... you beat me to it. I hope they do, but the likelihood that these holy rollers will is diminishingly small. Their concern has never been the living child - NEVER IN THE PAST! Just a bunch of Karens wanting to tell women how to run their lives. I am sure some church groups will attempt to help, but the vast majority of these people have no interest in helping. Their interest is only in whoring for their DOG.Kismet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 9:40 amGood idea. The problem is they'll never do it.
