For the first time maybe going back to the Drenner, Seider years Towson has two incoming freshman make the Baltimore Sun first team All-Met.
Joaquin Villagomez, Severna Park, senior, attackman
Highly skilled, imposing at 6-feet-6, and a pure finisher, Villagomez finished with 68 goals and 24 assists in leading the No. 7 Falcons (16-4) to the Class 3A state championship. The Towson commit, a varsity contributor since his freshman year, was part of three state championship teams with no season taking place in his sophomore year because of coronavirus restrictions.
Michael Weisshaar, Archbishop Spalding, senior, midfielder
The program’s most prolific player, last year’s C. Markland Kelly Award winner picked up where he left off with highly skilled and gritty two-way play that led the No. 5 Cavaliers (12-5) to a second straight MIAA A playoff appearance. The Towson commit and Under Armour All-American contributed heavily to the team’s success finishing with 60 goals, 21 assists and 43 ground balls.

Looks like some really nice additions. On the transfer portal
portal post they have Bobby Gavin from Syracuse transferring to Towson. Can anyone confirm this ?

Re: Towson 2023
Not sure if he's coming but is that a good pickup? He had a .422 save percentage last season in 13 starts.
Re: Towson 2023
It looks like they are getting a transfer goaltender, who has experience, though not great save % numbers.

Personally, I'd like to see another offensive middie with dodging ability who can take pressure off of Berkeley, another DMid (LSM and SS), and one more athletic close defenseman to replace Koby.

Re: Towson 2023
Any save % from a Michigan goalie is misleading. They give up a lot of goals historically.

Makes sense. Father played baseball at Towson. Re: Towson 2023
That’s a pretty good call. He could play both FB a& Lax at Towson. However, if it’s just lax I think schools like Syracuse, Maryland are probably on his list. The entire UNC roster was hurt by Chris Grey. Great player, but sitting round watching one player gets old. Same w Sowers at Duke.Math1234 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 8:28 pmMakes sense. Re: Towson 2023
Nick Williams, Peter Athens and Dan Ross come to mind when you talk about playing football and lax at Towson in the last 20+ years. It's so tough to do both nowadays. Not sure if he's looking to do both again or maybe just play football. I see, according to 247 Sports, that he was offered by AF, Rutgers and UMass. So he might be FBS-worthy in football, but he could star in FCS. Of course, we need a competent QB first.Mr3Putt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:53 pmThat’s a pretty good call. that entire UNC class, a real disservice to these young men.
Likely the “raters” were much too enamored with Herbert’s football background — but there are any number of lacrosse players playing today with exceptionally strong football backgrounds, Arline at Navy and Trader at Maryland come immediately to mind.
There are also any number of sophomores better than Herbert
several of whom were not rated at all, Jacob Greiner at Jacksonville and JP Ward at Delaware come immediately to mind, Carter Page, St. Joe’s.

Re: Towson 2023
The raters didn't overrate Herbert based on what he did as a high school middie and they didn't underrate JP Ward. Ward was more of a late bloomer but still graded out as an all american, Ward and Herbert both played on the same Crabs club team and not many if any evaluators or coaches at the time would have said Ward was better than Herbert.10stone5 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:44 pmThe “raters” over-rated that young man, and really pretty muchMath1234 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:21 pm

Saw this kid light up St. Francis of Baltimore his Jr. year in High School on grid iron......hands, speed, & tough. Would be a great "catch" for Tigers for both the Fall & Spring.Math1234 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:21 pmNick Williams, Peter Athens and Dan Ross come to mind when you talk about playing football and lax at Towson in the last 20+ years. its looking like the Tigers will be the landing spot,
hoping Herbert might even get a look with Tiger’s football,
regardless, yet another good pickup by Nadelen,
depending on confirmation of transfer,
