Interesting how so many on the forum are concerned over the media's coverage of the Smollett situation but conveniently overlook the matter of right wing Republicans Jacob Wohl and his false report of leftist death threats. Virtually the same crime as Smollett but no charge, no bad press, nobody calling for a long jail sentence.

My guess is that if it is out there and comes out, it will only help her. I know it is apples and oranges, but her dancing video just added to her star power. Unless there's a pic of her doing something , er , abnormal . I think it would just adds to her mystique.

Let's take a look at the story. Now why would this make national news?

The story isn't that she's black or gay and was voted as Mayor of Chicago.

The story is that she's the first. First is the story here. First is what made the national headline.

For the next black gay mayor of Chicago? No one will care. It won't make national news.

The news covers "the first" anything. Always have. Don't act like it's a liberal conspiracy, especially when Fox runs the same doggone headline. Same for the BBC.

Who was the first man to set foot on the moon? Great. Now who was second? No one cares. This is not complicated.
