I am not so sure about that. As far as I know, the only thing Venechanos did wrong at OSU was lose to Michigan consistently and she was fired.tothedraw wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:21 amI don't see women's head coaching jobs being on the hot seat unless they've actually down something wrong. Do I think she is aware something needs to change, yes. She isn't going anywhere and surrounding herself with fresh ideas may help her and the team be better.

Halfpenny herself may very well be on the hot seat. I have no personal knowledge. When is her contract up ?@inthe8m wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:50 amI am not so sure about that. Just in general women's coaches aren't removed for lack of success. I think we can all agree the performance of ND with her at the helm has not met expectations.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
I think that use to be the case even 5+ years ago. But, I do not think that is the case any longer - especially with Top 30 type schools.tothedraw wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 11:37 amHalfpenny herself may very well be on the hot seat. Hearing rumblings of moves/departures/firings occurring (timing is now) that haven’t been announced yet. I expect an onslaught of news over the next week or so.

I have also heard, from a source, that things could be happening at an undetermined time and place involving people.
I have already revealed too much. I will stop there.

LOL. Fair shot at me. Just don't want to let rumors see any daylight, but there are some whoppers out there so hopefully, some real news quiets them.

I was just giving you a hard time! Thanks for taking it like a champ. And for the record, I have heard about some whoppers too.
As an aside, I think we can start to expect more whoppers over the next 3-5-7 years. I have talked to a handful of coaches (of varying ages and backgrounds) who have left the sport in recent years and they all sang the same song. The athletes are changing and coaches are having to manage more off the field because of it. Given the lack of bandwidth (small staffs, pay, recruiting, etc.) the juice was no longer justifying the squeeze. This isn't a backhanded shot at the athletes. They are just saying that the 18-22 year old athlete today is significantly different than the 18-22 year old athlete from 12-15-20 years ago.

Yes. Lots of things are different from 12-15-20 years ago. Coaches evolve/adapt over time or they GTFO of the game. All props to the coaches who recognize this and move on.Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 11:53 amInteresting comments from the unnamed coaches.LaxPundit07 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 11:40 am I was just giving you a hard time! College athletics itself has also changed. This is not the only sport we are seeing this in I think.@inthe8m wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:04 pmYes. Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
Correct; this is not the only sport that is being impacted. Which is why I said the "18-22 year old athlete". I think coaches across all college sports are seeing this change. The coaches I have spoken with are as young as 30 and as old as their late 50s. And were most recently coaching in all three divisions.@inthe8m wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:17 pmCorrect, this applies across all sports at all levels.wlaxphan20 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:05 pmCollege athletics itself has also changed.
