All of a sudden, 11-5.
This is a young team, and the lack of maturity shows ... they started to panic. Just need to chip away now.

Love the announcers on the HWS feed. They make Ryan Powell at the Dome sound neutral.

That was Ryan Powell- I thought it was Norm McDonald.

This is a disgrace. Not sure why they didn’t come out in 2nd half. Coaches need to get their you know what together.

There's no doubt who signs their paychecks. They need to learn the shot clock rules: shots that rebound off the goalie or pipe results in a reset hold until controlled by another player and during the first 20 seconds of the clear teams can go over and back. Data Point: 3rd period ,dropped clearing pass at midfield that turned into a quick goal for SU, Bart never recovered. SU just has more horsepower.

Am anything but a Bart hater, had to switch to the radio for commentary, those two were pretty tough to take....and did one of them say the ref had his thumb up his a**?
Homerism to be expected from the local feeds, it's all good.

Congrats to Syracuse for a dominating defensive performance. They took or offense out of the game and exhausted our D. After looking like a top 20 team for the first quarter and a half, Hobart's offense looked like a a bunch of bad one on one "me Ball' guys that belonged in JUCO. Cuse showed why they deserved the W. They were opportunistic on offense and looked like a playoff bound team. Hobart, not even close.

St. Joes will be licking their chops after watching this performance. If we play like that the rest of the season, we'll be one and done in the NEC tourney.

That was the storm Cuse was bringing in. ;)
The score is not indicitive of what a hard fought game this was.

Plus he didn't know the rules. At least the new rules. He didn't know why an over and back wasn't called on SU when they stepped over the midline with the ball and immediately threw it back over before the shot clock reached 60.

Yeah the play by play guy gets a little excited and over his ski tips sometimes. He has a hard time staying in his lane and should leave the lacrosse analysis and rule interpretation to his partner who played for Bart. In his defense he does just about every sports broadcast for HWS and some high schools as well.

Big head scratcher in the second half. Hopefully it’s moved into short term memory and they get back on track.

Hats off to HWS and Geneva, NY for having such an easily accessible site and such knowledgable lacrosse announcers. While they may have missed certain nuances of new rules, and rooted for Bart, they certainly compete with the largest teams for accessibility of the feed and a solid understanding of lacrosse as a game.

It sure sounded like that was what he was about to say, but he caught himself and said "ear."
Here's hoping that Bart bounces back from this defeat to win its conference.

Yup, he caught himself (as much as he didn't want to) and he actually wasn't wrong with his criticism. I didn't think this was a very good officiating crew.
If you haven't seen the stats*, here they are. Minus a couple of categories, you wouldn't think this game was the blowout the score would lead you to believe it was.

Wow, was that ugly.
Here are my concerns: 1). Diminishing O from the start of the season to now. Except for Bonnie game, the O is producing less each time out. Some of that is because Ds are getting better as the season moves on, but it is still a concern. I almost wonder if the winning record led to playing a safer, more time managed kind of play ... the type that did not work for us last year.
2). If every goalie we play gets hot, at some point you have to ask if it is us. Do we let them get hot? Is it poor shot selection? (probably the latter).
3). We had one of the highest assist totals in the country before this game, but as many people on this forum pointed out, and Ted Baker pointed out, in the second half passing went out the window and it was all one on one dodging ... and we saw how that turned out. My fear is we shifted from our strength to our weakness.
4). We panic. It happened in the SHU game, and it happened last night. The panic leads to individuals trying to rescue the team (see 3. above), but in turn that leads to sloppy play and turnovers.
5). It is time for a gut check. This is a good team with tremendous talent, but it is up to the whole team to pull it back together for St. Joes AND every other game this season. After that performance, there is no possibility of an at large bid, so the NEC is a must. Does the team have it in them to pull together? I say we know that after the first quarter of Saturday's game.

The Boz was rocking in the first half then the air went out of the balloon in the second. Shout out to the Syracuse goalie Porter who made some nice saves. Regroup and come out strong for the rest of the NEC.

THUD ..... the team was pants/exposed last night. Do they learn from their numerous mistakes, or fold tent? The four teams remaining on our schedule all beat us last year and got a birds eye view on how to beat us last night. With that in mind, some questions/points need addressing if they are going to win the NEC. That looks dubious as of now.

When will our D stop sliding too soon only to see a cutter go in for a lay-up? I get we like to double the ball but, you can't let guys go in un-touched. Team shooting has fallen off the edge since game 4. Last night Holden, Aslanian, Scott, Knox and Archer shot a whopping 1 for 27 !!!! Probably 20-25% of which were low quality shots. I give SU's D full credit for taking us out of our original game plan . In game adjustment is still an issue. Curious as to why Archer did not start at midfield when his replacement is shooting 9.7% and has had trouble handling and passing the ball. Personally, I would prefer Bryan Hancock out there with Madonna and Avedesian. Once Cuse got a 3 goal lead, the offense went into solo mode as LaxGunea pointed out. All this lead to the collapse we all witnessed.

Hopefully the team tightens up and gets back to playing the lax we saw them play earlier in the season. 4 more games gentlemen.

Hobart posters are classy. Good spirited crowd. It was certainly a very competitive game for a half. Bart has nice spread of talent , could easily have had the halftime lead if goalie Porter not on. Cuse D can be frustrate opponents when in rhythm but reverting to one or one play hurt your flow. Be rooting for you guys. Win the NEC

Energy kept this Hobart team around in the first half. Lost all energy when they started letting up easy goals quickly, needed to regroup and stay composed. Excited to watch this program moving forward they have some serious skills at all positions.

I am planning on being down at St. Joe's for this one, my daughter is a Sophomore there and it is a great place to watch a game. Anyone going?

After the Statesmen suffered a second half spanking by a composed, balanced SU team, Hobart will need to re focus because everyone left on the schedule is tough as the meat of the season begins and we are looking at real rivalry type games. SU's D did a really good job of taking away any good shots, and when we did get a decent chance they really did a good job of disrupting things at the last second. So we took a lot shot but they were all contested and many were weak as a result of SU putting a check in at the last second. The failure to convert that fast break at the end of the first half when the SU D man blocked Holden's shot from medium range hurt. And Knox, Mott and Alsanian were all stopped one on one by the goalie. That film is a good one for our guys to review a few times. SU really punished us after a few mistakes in a row and the wheels fell off. Pedecine wins a face off clean and then threw it away and SU scores. Next face off he wins clean again and takes it in to shoot an awkward heavily contested shot, that is saved and SU throws three passes and scores. Stuff like that. And it is true that in the first half we were riding and taking the ball away, really good, physical D, and in the second half that went away. SJU's goalie is no slouch and could frustrate us the way SU goalies did with 19 saves.
