any chance they do it in advance, rather than let thousands of people go to the stadium to sit in a concourse for hours waiting for weather to clear?

Looking forward to a great day of lax! Couple of B1Gs, couple of Ivies, both games should be competitive, lots of star power and great team play. Happy MDW everyone!

At this point I’d think they have to back up Monday’s starting time, as the 2nd game won’t be done until 8pm best case.

With the exception of 2005, has this ever happened at Championship Weekend before? I was in Philly for that one. The longest delay I ever sat through was the Yale game at College Park a few years ago. That one actually had two delays, the second coming with less than :40 left in the game.

I'm rooting for the Grounds Crew and trusting they have a good drainage system. You're going to have 5.5 games in less than 40 hours. At least weather looks good after 7 tonight.

Given Cornell is looking good for finals and theyre strengths I’m told they have engaged the 1980s Hobart grounds crew for the finals.

Conference Check, Final Four Edition:

Ivy League: 7-5 (0.583) [One loss to another Ivy]
Big Ten: 5-2 (0.714)
ACC: 1-1 (0.500)
Big East: 0-1 (0.000)
Everyone else: 1-7 (0.125)

Number of teams in the Tournament:
6 Ivies, 3 B1G, 1 ACC, 1 Big East, 7 Others

Number of teams in the Quarters:
4 Ivies, 2 B1G, 1 ACC, 1 Other

Number of teams in the Final Four:
2 Ivies, 2 B1G

Number of teams in the Championship:
1 Ivy, 1 B1G

B1G vs Ivy: 3-2
ACC vs Ivy: 1-0
B1G vs ACC: 1-0
B1G & Ivy versus everyone else: 6-1

Well... the Ivies once again proved how good they were this year as a conference. Cornell shellacked a very good Rutgers team, and while Cornell is certainly playing their best lax at the right time, they were probably the fourth best Ivy when the regular season ended!

On the past they used to have an all tournament team. I guess they didn’t choose one this year.

I heard there was one. I saw an Instagram post recognizing a player.

Terry Foy has a good article in IL about proposed changes for the tournament.

I think he’s on to a few things.

The men’s and women’s tournaments could be combined, giving the two men’s semi winners 24 extra hours for the final. I also think combining the mens and women’s semi and championships to the same location would help increase visibility and turnout.

The other major issues I agree too. Everyone starts practice the same day. There has to be a floor and cap on number of games.

There was a time post 2000 when the idea of bringing the men and women together was discussed. The problem was all those talking were men. The women did not want it.

Maybe the passage of time and events have changed opinions.
