Really hard to beat a team 3 times in a season, especially the caliber of BC. Geiersbach may be the MVP of the final 4 - scored the last 4 of the NW game and the first 2 of this game to set the tone.
Insane that they beat BC 3 times in a season with the supposed GOAT CN at the helm..where do we rank this UNC team among the greats? What they did this season is insane and very hard to do, especially in the shot clock era. The MD and NU teams of yesteryear lose points for playing stall ball. Still those teams were legendary. I'd put them top 3. In terms of raw talent on paper they're probably number 1.
UNC is 43-1 over their last two seasons with their only loss coming to BC on last year’s semi final. That’s one heck of a team.

No band. Just each schools fight song piped through stadium audio system after goals.

Thanks. I’m certainly used to “DJ music” being played at games, and there was some of that yesterday, but college band music is new to me. Just glad it wasn’t something added to the broadcast by ESPN.

Stick extension is allowed in wlax.

I would think so. We really needed a wider angle view of the play.

I'm sure she stayed behind the restraining line or the refs would have called offsides. In theory she wouldn't even have needed to extend her stick to be closest. Andie is a very smart player. I'll bet she hustled over to the edge of the restraining line and got as near as she could to the sideline as she saw the ball rolling her way.

In Carr's defense, he wasn't looking at players over the restraining line which you wouldn't expect him to normally do.

Anyway, I'm just curious and would like to see a wider angle.
I was at the game. UNC fans (myself included) were very upset about the ball being awarded back to BC. In Carr’s defense, as you said, he did not see Andie; he was looking solely at the BC player who chased it out (can’t remember who). With the ball going so far up the field towards the 30, I think the norm needs to be for the ref to be sure to look at girls behind the restraining line as well. It just doesn’t happen very often. But IMO, Andie was 100% closer, stayed on-sides, and the call made was the wrong call.

Also, I totally agree with you that the UNC defenders and Moreno should have held onto the ball for WAY longer rather than throwing the ball towards pressure down the field. Absolutely no need for that, they were doing just fine passing between them. You should hold onto it until someone pressures you. A huge draw control by #35 sealed the game, but passing the ball up the field gave BC a chance to come back. Could have been a very different ending if we had not gotten that draw.

Thanks. On TV it looked like Carr said something to the North Carolina bench shortly after he made the call and BC got the ball back. Wonder what he said? Seems as though the refs turned their mics on and off. Had his been on, we would have heard what he said.

Interesting. I assume he was just saying that he didn’t see her and therefore couldn’t make the call. His back was completely turned to Aldave. In hindsight, if I’m Aldave in this situation, I’m yelling “mine mine mine” or something to get the ref’s attention.

The head scratcher here is that there are 4 Refs for a Championship game. How did one of the 3 other Refs not step up to help? Aldave was closer, no question about it. SMH….

Biggest takeaway is that "non" lacrosse watchers have no idea what is happening at the draw. It needs to be fixed!

If you know anything about Larry, no one is overturning his calls. He’ll happily step in and overrule another officials call but there could have been 10 refs on the field and that call wasn’t being changed.

I don't know if they're even top 5. UNC has had teams comparable to this, and better, in the past. Do a little research and you might be surprised at the level of talent that UNC has had coming through Chapel Hill over the past 27 years.

*And factor in the whole pandemic thing and how the transfer portal played a part for both UNC and BC.
In fairness BC only had 1 post covid transfer - Courtney Taylor. I'm sure there will be more for both BC, UNC and MD.. North and Hall transferred before Covid.

I don’t really see much of a difference between pre or post COVID transfers. I know there’s a lot more freedom to transfer now, but a transfer is still a transfer

But for COVID, North and Taylor wouldn’t have played this year.

I think that is the salient point.

????
Why, you figure the non lacrosse watchers will become watchers if they "fix" it?
The draw is fine, just leave it alone and have the non watchers learn what's going on.

Or make them watch film from the old days when draws were 11 on 11 battles. Then they’ll appreciate, and probably quickly understand, the current draw rules.

Let us look in on what it looked like at each restraining line when the whistle blew back in the 11 v 11 draw battles.

So much better now and curious what laxphan22 would do to change it even more. Make it like soccer or basketball ?
I spent 5 minutes explaining the men's offsides and failed clear rules to a friend today. Didn't turn her off from the game.

Especially at HS games & club tournaments if the field isn’t full regulation, and the circle is almost touching the restraining line
