Congrats to Carolina. That is a great team that put out a great effort today. It was also a wonderful day for the sport of women’s lacrosse. Hard to imagine a more perfect showcase.

Could not have asked for 3 better games for the largest platform the sport has been broadcast on so far

Wholeheartedly agree, have enjoyed the women's games more than the men's.
We'll see what tomorrow brings for a final.

Fantastic game. What a weekend of women's lacrosse. As a fan you could not ask for more.wlaxphan20 wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 2:29 pm Could not have asked for 3 better games for the largest platform the sport has been broadcast on so far

What a terrific weekend! I wonder, is that the first time all three games were decided by one goal? Probably not, but it sure made for a hell of a weekend! I don’t think anybody can complain about any of the play today - both teams played really well in all phases of the game. Was a little disappointed that Carolina didn’t try and do a little more to get the ball to Ortega.

I think the game was well officiated. Nice to see Larry Carr get the finals.
Was wondering about that one back up call where the announcer said Aldave was saying she was closest to the ball. Now Andie would have been across the restraining line, but I don't think the rule makes her ineligible for being closest to the ball. Don't think she was on camera so the viewer really couldn't tell. Not sure I've ever seen someone over the restraining line be the closest to the ball.
Re: The Final: UNC v. BC 5/29/22 Noon
Could she have been behind the restraining line reaching over with her stick to make her closest to the ball (assuming wlax is the same as mlax in that the stick is an extension of the player)?
Re: The Final: UNC v. BC 5/29/22 Noon
Stick extension is allowed in wlax.
I would think so. We really needed a wider angle view of the play.
I'm sure she stayed behind the restraining line or the refs would have called offsides. In theory she wouldn't even have needed to extend her stick to be closest. Andie is a very smart player. I'll bet she hustled over to the edge of the restraining line and got as near as she could to the sideline as she saw the ball rolling her way.
In Carr's defense, he wasn't looking at players over the restraining line which you wouldn't expect him to normally do.
Anyway, I'm just curious and would like to see a wider angle.
Re: The Final: UNC v. BC 5/29/22 Noon
Yes, I would too and I'd put my money on Andie being right albeit hard to criticize a ref for not looking at the end of the field where the action is not.
Re: The Final: UNC v. BC 5/29/22 Noon
I have received conflicting info over the years, but it does say the stick is an extension of the body based on the latest wlax rules book.njbill wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 2:49 pmStick extension is allowed in wlax.

SECTION 30. When a shot or deflected shot on goal goes out of bounds, the
team of the player who is inbounds and nearest to the ball when it crosses the
boundary line is awarded possession of the ball. If the sticks or bodies of players
from the two opposing teams are equidistant from the ball when it goes out of
bounds, alternate possession will be awarded.

Thanks. "Inbounds" certainly would include someone over the restraining line. At least that's how I look at it.
Re: The Final: UNC v. BC 5/29/22 Noon
Yes, it would apply to any player on the field inbounds.
The inbounds part really comes into play on the end line when shots are taken. Unfortunately, officials miss this call way too often where they award to a player that has actually stepped out of bounds trying to back the shot up.

great game, great weekend. Congrats to UNC for completing their undefeated season. Really hard to beat a team 3 times in a season, especially the caliber of BC. Geiersbach may be the MVP of the final 4 - scored the last 4 of the NW game and the first 2 of this game to set the tone.

She would be my pick too. She also scored to put UNC ahead 11-10 in the 4th8meterPA wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 3:29 pm great game, great weekend. Congrats to UNC for completing their undefeated season. That was a very fun game to watch. We had it on a television at a bar/restaurant in Boca grande Florida. None of us know the rules. Which probably makes it more fun to watch.
I feel for any girls team that loses. Their hearts are broken. I think they get over it fast, but in the moment watching the losing team, you have to feel for them.
Some great shooters out there. Both coaches all class. You can easily see why this sport is catching on so fast down here.
Hopkins homewood on a sunny day is great marketing.

On a very nice move along with a tip toe dance around the crease too.wlaxphan20 wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 3:31 pmShe would be my pick too. Huge and very nice play.
