Since the tourney is now held in that men's lax powerhouse Columbia location, just rephrase the old Raiders' "just win baby" to "just get in baby". Who cares if we wear brown or white.
Really curious to see Saturday: don't want to overrate this win against a Princeton team they'be beaten consistently recently.

Some of you truly enjoy damning with faint praise--sometimes it is not even w faint praise: the O has a "basic inability to catch and throw." The O is posting nearly 13 goals per game, which is a Top 20 stat. And, what is with the "don't want to overrate this win" comment, when the same poster said on Thursday: "Big road game against a Princeton team coming off a strong midweek win v (an honestly not-quite-as-strong-as-usual) Denver squad . . . . Bruno [is] a definite underdog, but this is a great chance to move towards the magic 3-3 record and a tiebreak ad over a likely competitor for the last few ILT slots." Sounds like a pretty big darn game as of last TH--and it was. The passive-aggressive comments are tiresome. Bottom line is that Brown plays a style of play that is unapologetically aggressive and does not sweat turnovers. Does the team need to improve on TO's and failed clears and finishing? Absolutely. But, they have three 1-goal losses (2 in OT) and a 2-goal loss. I, for one, think they have the ability to play with any team. They just need to do it consistently. Good luck to the Bears moving forward.

Lol at the irony of calling out multiple board members for being passive aggressive and then not addressing them specifically, despite quoting their comments.

Anyway. Big opportunity this coming weekend. Penn frankly terrifies me, but they’ve struggled to deal with our offensive pace a few times in recent years. If Goss keeps up the good play in net, this one is winnable.

I'm not going to pat arses for being merely competitive with or beating teams they should beat. Bears should be competitive with- from this year's schedule- the other Ivies, 'Nova, UMass, maybe include Bryant and Stony Brook in their better years. Not including UVA which year-in year-out should be superior. The results so far are good in the IL and not so much otherwise. UVA game ++ effort. The aim is to qualify for the NCAA even if there's a blip in the ILT. I have always said the new staff needs time, 5 yrs minimum. But that doesn't mean fans should turn a blind eye to the product on the field.

The Ivies are a dogfight every year. There are usually a few teams scrapping for that #4 slot. Any Ivy team, and I mean ANY, can and will beat you on any given Saturday. There is so much pride and grit in these games. Talk to the Penn players about last year's game with Dartmouth. The Green are improving, and should NOT be overlooked. Those who do will be in for a surprise. Harvard is improving, and the pieces are there.

Would any team like to play an improved 3-3 Princeton team from the #4 slot in the ILT? I didn't think so. They could prove to be very dangerous. Brown is sneaky at 2-0 in the League. Don't sleep on Cornell because when, not if, but when they put it together, they won't be asking questions, they'll just be taking names and getting some business done.

Yale will make a few adjustments and will be around to terrorize teams. Penn looks good right now, but they need to stay focused and finish.

Every one of these teams has every reason to come out every game swinging. The season is only half over at most. A lot of good lacrosse left to play.

Awesome. I believe Counselor leaked this info a couple months back, but it’s good to see it confirmed. I didn’t, however, see a construction timeline in there other than the projected opening academic year (2020-21). If it’s not done by next spring, what does lacrosse do? Play at Brown Stadium? Anyone know what the plan is, here?

Edit: Nvm, I remembered what year it is! The line directly preceding the mention of 2020-2021 says it should be ready in time for lacrosse season in 2020, which was two years out in my head; I ultimately remembered that we are indeed in 2019.

This is huge news for soccer and lacrosse. Recruits will not only want to play in that complex, but will also realize how deeply committed the university is to their sport. This is in keeping with Brown's realization that it can't be truly competitive across all sports. Difficult triage decisions are required. If Brown is serious about winning Ivy titles, it would drop the football program. I'm not sure that sport will be played in the Ivies in 20 years anyway. The team hasn't won an Ivy game since 2016. Attendance dipped below 2,000 at some games last year. Has there ever been a school that regretted dropping football? Those 65 spots in admissions and AI calculations could be spread across many other men's teams. Do you want to win 4-6 Ivy titles per year without football or win 1-2 with football?

Agree that football may not be in IL's future, but let's see what the new staff can do. Hockey had been moribund for a while too, and basketball historically much more down than up. Brown's resources ($$) pale in comparison to their Ivy cohorts for the most part, and trimming if not triage may be in order, but whacking the programs that get the most alumni attention is a last resort.

PENN BRWN
Shots 61 39
Turnovers 14 10
Caused Turnovers 1 7
Faceoffs Won 16 13
Extra-Man Opps 7 3
Ground Balls 32 30

Do these numbers make sense? Who records these? 61 to 39 shots, with everything else ~ equal? Do the 4 extra emo opportunities account for the shot disparity (possibly if they were all 1 min and goals were not scored or scored at the end- I recall one when the Brown dmid was just reaching the restraining line), or is it 'creative accounting' for the home team on gb's & to's?

19-9? Does Ierlan have the flu? Budum ting! I'm here all week.
Bears' very outside chance: Starr has been average overall, tomorrow he's (-). Yale shortsticks not at Warner/Alessi level, maybe Bear mids can free up (Panepinto needs to up his game a lot). Try try try to create scrums at f/o, although pretty sure Eli wings > Bear wings. Hope Goss plays out of his head. Need ALL this to happen, not just 1 or 2.

When a top five team plays a team outside of the Top 20, a lot of things need to go right for the upset, especially a discrepancy in goalie play/specialist. That is definitely the case this weekend for the Bears. There is enough talent on this team for a W, they just haven't managed to put together a strong 4 quarters all year (even against Princeton the 1st Q was pretty ugly.) If Grell and Aughavin can go off from the outside on Saturday that should open things up for everyone else. I wonder if Fake will cover McCaleb or Cook? I'd rather see him on McCaleb who is heady enough to take advantage of the better match-ups off switches.
Back when Cornell was the cream of the Ivy crop Lars got the Bears up for some classic upsets in Ithaca on their Senior Day--it would be sweet for Daly's Bears to do the same on Yale's. Unfortunately Yale's strength also appear to be Brown's weakness--if Yale dominates Face-off's and continues their success on the ride, the possession deficit may make everything else insignificant.

1-1, M. Brown starting of as a ssdm, not close d for possibly the first time this year. I have to take a 1 hour drive, can't watch much more. Let's go Bruno!

Tough stretch at the end of the first half likely cost us the game. Yale has been uncharacteristically sloppy, though, so we still have a chance here. Gotta start executing on offense.

This one felt familiar—played tough and had some really nice moments on both O and D, but didn’t have enough to see it through. Down 15-12 with about 6 mins to go and Brown couldn’t finish 2 one-on-one’s with the keeper and had some unforced turnovers/failed clears. Have to finish those plays against the defending champs to win. No excuses, but it’s hard to win against a historically good FO guy—Irelan was 23/30 today.
Both #18 and #25 saw far more PT than I can recall in prior games. Kniffin back to attack seems to be working out. I believe this team can win in Ithaca if they play smart and certainly hope they close out against Dartmouth to get into the ILT.

I thought Brown showed well today. Goss is a stud and the O has some nice parts. Cornell-Brown should be a good one, and likely for the 3rd seed in the ILT and a rematch with Yale.

Cornell game is in Pvd. When P'ton away, BR is at home.
Can't watch replay yet, if Starr stayed in did 'we' have a better chance?

Well one thing's for sure, the 1st O mids are going to need lots of hydration after that. A few personnel shuffles, but pretty much straight 4 42 66 on the field all day. Thought they might do better against the Yale ssdms. Good effort overall considering what went down on faceoffs; could have got it to 15-14, and then who knows?

Big Red struggling at f/o, while 'their' Ierlan has looked ok but not great. Good chance for Brown to get Ivy win 3 without having to rely on a trip to Hanover for it.
