Indeed. UNC out shot NW 40-29. UNC took a lot of bad, poorly placed shots early. Shot placement was much better in 2nd half and Geiersbach was straight fire in the 4th Q.

Incredible comeback!!! I wonder if the emotion of the win helps or hurts them going into the final. They really look unbeatable.

I was thinking that too. I'm sure it'll be discussed

That was a crazy game! UNC deserve to win after that display. Sam geirsbach was the MVP of that fourth quarter

The lack of awareness by NU when clearing absolutely killed them. Giersbach was on fire - zero adjustment from NU when she obviously had good matchups and shooting angle. But Ally Mastrioni absolutely dragged that team to never give up when things looked so bad. She has to be exhausted.

I was there in 2007 at Franklin Field for the semifinal when Duke led Virginia 13-4 and Virginia won 14-13. A bit different because Virginia's comeback took 20 minutes.

Agree with others that North Carolina had been playing better than the score indicated, but you have to hold on to a seven goal lead in less than a quarter.

I think that became a bit of a depth issue at the end of the game - Girardi was clearly gassed late in the 4th Q and I am sure others were too. UNC also benefited from Halpern getting her 2nd YC with 3:00 minutes left in the 3rd Q. NW was up 12-4 when Halpern carded out.

As someone else mentioned, putting Aldave on the draw seemed to give UNC an advantage in 4th Q.

Yeah, my MVPs are Aldave, Mastroianni and Nalls. I know Sam G. scored the goals, but the inexhaustible effort and work on the draw in the Fourth Quarter was superhuman.

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, feel bad for the NU girls after such an incredible performance but you've sure got to tip your hat to UNC here.
Happy for Aldave, she was huge on the draw down the stretch. Felt bad for her when she came back from her injury while at ND, just wasn't anywhere near the player she was before the injury....she sure has bounced back now though.
This is one of the best comebacks I've ever seen. Amazing.
It would have been easy to turn the game off after the 3rd period, but I am glad I stuck with it and watched an amazing comeback!. Aldave could be the player of the game for UNC, without her taking the draw controls in the 4th quarter and UNC winning the positions, they probably wouldn't have come back.

DCs and Giersbach were what won the 4th Q and ultimately the game. Giersbach was 5 for 5 on shots in the 4th Q - the rest of the team was 4 for 10 on shots in the 4th Q and just were not getting it done in the shooting department.

Mastroianni and Hillman had a few key CTs in the midfield too

Have always been a fan of AM, a bit premature, but this game may have pushed her ahead of Ortega for T

I’m not so sure, JO had 3g 3a in not her best game and was involved in 6 of UNCs first 11 goals before Geiersbach took over.

JO also had 2TOs and took some really bad shots in the 1st Q which was a big reason that UNC was down - playing a bit of hero ball in the 1st half. Settled down and played better in 2nd half.

That’s true. She was trying to do to much in the first half. The entire team settled in the second.

Such a bad look. Coaches doing interviews minutes after the game is always a dice roll. SID should have been over her shoulder. Not only is it petty, but irrelevant. And I hope for her sake not hypocritical. Has she taken a transfer there in her 15-20 year tenure? I would have to think yes. Right?
