No Koras. Anyone know why?

Yeah we could get a portal vs portal final, no interest at allThe Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:39 pm Congrats Terp Nation! Absolutely awesome team and couldn’t be better coached.

What a team. Glad we get to appreciate them all the way to the last weekend. Zaps was unbelievable, as good a game as a Terp defender has ever played. Wierman was Wierman; the difference maker on this team compared to years past. Tony is one of the more clutch players I can remember; he just lives for the big games. The rest just played great as they always do. This team has been on a mission all year, they own every situation, and react to everything stronger than the other team.
Hope there’s two wins more waiting next weekend.

The crazy thing is that they were uncharacteristically sloppy for stretches, passing into too much traffic usually. They had 18 turnovers. But they made up for it at the dot, and on groundballs (45-30!). Just a complete team in every facet.jrn19 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:58 pm What a team. If you told me before the game that they would hold Moore to 1G/1A, and shut Shellenberger out completely… would not have believed it. Best close defense performance I have ever seen, period.
Looking at UVa, Eschen on the Lax Network said before the game that they were top heavy, and really missed Jared Conners and Dox Aitken (which I totally agreed with). This game demonstrated it. With Shell and Moore taken out of the game, Dickson and Cormier couldn’t pick the team up. I actually thought UVa’s D did pretty well, and gave up a lot fewer inside looks than most teams.
So finals score of Terps vs. UVa in 2022? 41-21. Let that sink in.

Re: Maryland 2022
This is an unusual era (I think of it as the "lacrosse free agency era") but with a few exceptions (Army/Navy/Air Force and the Ivies) everybody had their chance at the portal. And coaches still have to integrate the players into their existing team. Rutgers/Brecht and Terps/Tillman have done it the best. I'm just going to enjoy watching some very high quality lacrosse even if there's not much of a suspense factor. Two more years of universal grad transfers and then things will calm back down a bit on the transfer front, although the genie is out of the bottle to some extent and we'll see some future Chris Gray/TD Ierlan situations I'm sure.lorin wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:56 pmYeah we could get a portal vs portal final, no interest at allThe Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:39 pm Congrats Terp Nation! Also, Princeton and Cornell without taking advantage of it are in the Final Four. It clearly hasn’t been a massive hindrance to the Ivy. And hasn’t necessarily crippled mid majors either; Delaware made QFs and Richmond almost won 1st Round. It’s helped make Maryland better and Rutgers has truly used to reboot their program but plenty teams have done well without it

Re: Maryland 2022
I probably shouldn’t feed the troll… but at least for Maryland, the primary transfers are Khan (grad), Donville (grad), Murphy (transferred after freshman year at Hopkins), and then secondary guys like Prybylski (2nd LSM behind Geppert), Higgins (transferred after two years at Cleveland State, fourth guy on the rope unit), and Gavin Tygh (back-up to Wierman). If you want to throw Wisnauskas in there, fine, but he never played for anyone else.lorin wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:56 pmYeah we could get a portal vs portal final, no interest at allThe Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:39 pm Congrats Terp Nation! So we’re talking two top-end guys out of the starting 13, another star on the second midfield, a couple of more bodies on the rope unit, and a solid back-up FOGO. In my mind, that’s pretty much the perfect way to use the portal - fill in a few gaps, but keep the large majority of the team homegrown.
Re: Maryland 2022
This Terps team, barring a Miracle on Ice type of game, will go down as one of the greatest college teams ever.

Re: Maryland 2022
Weird question. Are Brennan and Murphy technically Freshmen in terms of eligibility? Both played in the shortened 2020 season, which doesn’t count towards eligibility, and neither played in the 2021 season, which I assume means they could have redshirted.
Who knows if they would choose to use all 3 years after 2022, or if those 3 years would be at Maryland, but thought it was interesting to think about them as having more years of eligibility left than Malever or Koras.

Re: Maryland 2022
Believe Brennan medically red-shirted in 2021, so I’m not sure how that works with the COVID year being given as well. I would think he has three years left.MDGrad2012 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 3:32 pm Weird question. Are Brennan and Murphy technically Freshmen in terms of eligibility? Roster pages should really show number of years of eligibility used up, in addition to class. Hard to keep track of because of COVID.
Re: Maryland 2022
Brennan and Murphy should have 3 years left yes. Brennan got year back from Covid and medical redshirt. Murphy gets Covid year back + didn’t play in 2021 so didn’t burn a year. So both should have 23, 24, 25. Will they use them? Who knows; that’s a ways down the road. But they’ll have them.

Re: Maryland 2022
Pretty sure Brennan and Murphy are sophomores eligibility-wise. They're getting 5 years and they both used 1 prior to this year, just like Shellenberger, who is definitely not a freshman this season. Bernhardt got 5. I believe the exceptions are the ones who redshirted prior to 2020, like Wisnauskas.
Re: Maryland 2022
Neither has played the # of games required in a season to use your eligibility. Brennan would need to request a medical redshirt for 2021 but imagine he would get it.
