Big games of the week, 4/2/2019-4/7/2019

Post by RedFromMI »

Tuesday April 2

Merrimack (#4) @ St. Anselm (#20) --- a matchup of top 20 programs - can St. A knock of the returning national champs at home?
As close as 13-11 earlier in the 4th Q, this one ends up 18-12 as Mack stays unbeaten in NE10 play.

Wednesday April 3

Tampa (RV) @ Florida Southern (RV) --- each team looking to break back into the top 20, with each team really not wanting a fifth loss...
Tampa with a comfortable win - keeps their playoff hopes still within the realm of possibility
Indianapolis (#9) @ Lake Erie --- at 1-6, LEC not receiving votes any more - do they have an upset in them?
They keep it close enough, but not enough to win...(Indy wins 15-11)
Florida Tech (RV) @ Lynn (RV) --- who would have thought that a bit more than half season in and only one team in the SSC in top 20...
Big margin as Lynn rolls 17-9
Saint Leo (#14) @ Rollins (RV) --- Rollins path to a top 20 ranking through Leo this week...
Rollins scores with 14 seconds left for the upset
Adelphi (#1) @ NYIT --- big game for Tech to see what they still have. An upset would make their season, but staying on the field with #1 would be positive...
Like Lake Erie, Tech is in a season of 'hell' as it keeps this one a four goal loss (Adelphi 16, Tech 12)

Friday April 5

Catawba (#18) @ Limestone (#2) --- the second surprise in the SAC along with the strength of Queens. Indians just two losses (Abbey and UMO to open the season) visiting the resurrected Saints. Stone cannot afford to look ahead of this one to the upcoming battles with Abbey and UMO...
First quarter was a different game (Stone 1-0, with goalie Forren with 8 saves) then an 11-3 breakout for the Saints in the second quarter and they cruised to a 24-7 victory

Saturday April 6

Lindenwood (#15) @ Mount Olive (#13) --- Lindenwood at 3 losses can ill afford a loss here, but UMO does not want one either - they still have to face Stone
UMO in a 15-3 win here - much larger than expected - could spell trouble when the Saints come to town for Stone...
Le Moyne (#6) @ Pace (#7) --- A battle of top ten teams here - should be a great one...
Phins dominate throughout on the way to a 11-6 victory
Florida Southern (RV) @ Rollins (RV) --- Second time in a week for a great SSC matchup for each...
Mercyhurst (#11) @ Seton Hill (#12) --- battle for the conference #1 seed for GMAC tourney...
Seton Hill gets a big early lead (7-2 HT, 10-5 end of 3rd Q) and withstands a furious comeback attempt to win 13-11)

Sat 4/6

Mercyhurst (#11) at Seton Hill (#12)
Winner will probably be the host for the GMAC tournament

Just overlooked that one - Seton Hill played Stone a bit tougher but Hurst has the better record. Seton Hill really cannot afford a fourth loss...

The next 10 days COULD clear up the Sunshine State Conference...on the other hand it could muddy it up if the top 3 beat each other.

Tampa has beaten FSC and Leo this week - still has Rollins, Lynn, and PBA left. Did not seem to have any problems in those. Rollins edged Leo by one, and then had no trouble with FSC. Have Tampa, PBA and ERAU left in SSC. So the Wednesday game at Tampa should allow Rollins or Tampa put themselves in the driver's seat for the conference regular season...
