Cornell-Rutgers is the Noon game on Saturday followed by Maryland- Princeton at 2:30. It's tough to compile this stat but I understand the team that wins the first semi-final game prevails on Memorial Day about 2/3 of the time. Maryland looks invincible but the game is played on the field, not here.

I've been touting Spencer Wirtheim (note spelling local lax "experts") since he began gaining playing time against Penn. Spencer is improving weekly as is Alex Holmes. They are now legit threats which helps the attack. Also, I've pointed out that the offense is more effective when Matt Licciardi shoots. He's a great dodger but if he always dodges and just passes, opponents don't have to concentrate on him. He scored a crucial goal today. Keep shooting Matt! GBR!

Anyone know if Cornell Athletics will be selling tickets (to alumni)?

Most schools get an allocation to sell. I'd suggest shooting an email to Sports Information, or giving them a call. There used to be a "ticket office" but I don't know if that's still around. I assume that something will be posted on social media soon as well.

Massey gives Rutgers a 62% chance of winning with a score of 12-11.

Each schools used to get 250 tickets to allocate to who they choose. They know their allocations. You can call the SID and ask about location. Numbers might have changed since i was involved and stadiums downsized .

This years team has done so well…. I can only wish we had the opportunity to see this same group play in 2021 joined by Teat, Donville and Fletcher. Perhaps as good or better than the current MD team.

Except for the FOGO, goalie, midfield depth, and rope unit…

Massey was a great regular season indicator this year (my informal tracking is 80-85% accurate). In knock-out lacrosse, unusual things can happen. Massey still gives Delaware a 15% chance of beating Georgetown at home, and favors Georgetown by five goals still today. Cornell's 38%, two goal deficit, is a reasonable guess based on history, but as CU 77's "common opponent" analysis shows, the two teams may be considered more closely matched.

How are you determining accuracy? Wins/losses picked correctly, or within a certain percentage of the final score differential?

Sites like Massey can never measure heart, tradition, coaching ability, friendship between teammates, and other aspects. This looks like a close game to me.

Was everyone worried this past Sunday that Delaware would score 1 more goal and make the final 10-9? Remember that the meatheads said that IVY 1 goal wins are just like losses, so a 10-9 loss to Delaware would have eliminated the Big Red.
So this coming weekend Princeton and Cornell both have to win their games by two goals to advance to the final.

Wow, I love these "ping-pong" rules where the Ivies have to win by two or it's a loss.

Just wins picked correctly. For example, during league tournament play week, there were 33 games. Massey correctly called the winner 25 times for 76% accuracy rate. Since the NCAA tournament began, Massey has correctly picked 13 of 14 games for approximately a 93% accuracy rate. My view this year looking at Massey is that the Massey scoring spreads are not designed to be as accurate as the winning probabilities. For example, a two goal advantage to Rutgers means that, in Massey's model, Cornell has a meaningful disadvantage based on history. I am not an expert on computer modelling or anything numeric, so I stand to be corrected if I am in error.

That being said, there are many things that Massey cannot measure. For the Big Red, team improvement, game management and player motivation are deciding factors that could give Cornell the win. I hope that they get it.
