Boyle throwing a little shade “sometimes they are open for a reason”.

Rare mistake by UD doubling behind.

Impressive job by Delaware in climbing back to tie it up going into the 4th, but a really calm, confident close-out by Cornell (there’s some alliteration for ya) in the 4th quarter to put this one away. Congrats to the Blue Hens for a great season with the upset of the tournament, and good luck to Cornell next weekend. What a season for this young head coach and his team!

Petrakis was the most important difference, IMO...yes, Del defense wore down, but possessions were a big part of that...
Though not as exciting as some of the other contests, a lot fewer unforced errors/TO's by both teams was my impression.
More good goaltending too.

Re: 2022 NCAA Mens LAX tournament
Their inability to clear the ball is what did them in. They made some nice stops, but there's only so much you can do when you're unable to clear the ball and you're giving an offense as good as Cornell's 4-minute possessions in a close game.
And credit to Petrakis; big win after big win at the x in the 4th quarter to deny Delaware possession and keep pressure on the Delaware D.
Re: 2022 NCAA Mens LAX tournament
Petrakis MVP, not Piatelli.

Clearing and an outstanding day by big red at the x. Just too many possessions by Cornell for UD to overcome. Glad the waved off goal didn't come into playICGrad wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 2:20 pmTheir inability to clear the ball is what did them in. Pretty much confirmed that the Tewaaraton will go to Wisnauskas? Nichtern and Gray on teams that didn't make the tournament so they don't get the recency bump, Shellenberger shut down today, Handley out at the quarterfinals (and good but not dominant) -- so best player on the best team gets it?

I was thinking the same, regardless of what happens next weekend. Shellenberger was only a finalist (instead of Brandau) because of the possibility that UVa could threepeat. Now it doesn’t really matter, since both lost in the quarters, and both laid eggs at that. Wiznauskas has been the most consistent player, and the best offensive player on the best team, and statistically the best as well. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 7:43 pm Pretty much confirmed that the Tewaaraton will go to Wisnauskas? He is truly machine-like. He’s scored four points or more in every game this year, and more than four in all but two games. He’s scored a goal in every game, and at least a hat trick in all but three. He’s currently on an eight-game hat-trick streak, all against conference or tournament opponents.
Oh, and he’s also top-5 all-time in career goals, and has an outside shot at top-10 all-time in career points.

Right -- and didn't mean to undersell Wisnauskas! Agree with everything you said. Wisnauskas would be/will be a worthy winner.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 7:52 pmI was thinking the same, regardless of what happens next weekend. Yeah, No worries. Just put that out there because alot of folks kind of underrate him because of how good the Maryland team is overall. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 7:55 pmRight -- and didn't mean to undersell Wisnauskas!
