Carc's getting a bum rap. I just stumbled across a recording of the 2005 PLT final, Army at Navy, on CSTV. Joe Beninati & Carc,

What a contrast. One of the best game calls I've ever witnessed. Smooth flow. You always knew which player had the ball, who was subbing in/out & what schemes were being run. Lots of background on the players & coaches. They both knew their stuff & conveyed it.

A lot of the heart burn is with the ESPN corporate schtick, playing to a different demo & trying to generate interest in a wider audience.
They know we lax purists are going to watch anyway, even if we have to hit [MUTE].

I can believe it.

Sure the play-by-play guy sets the tone, but the entire presentation is shaped by the network, via their producers.

Carc can play it straight & soothe us old white guys, but we're not the audience espn is trying to capture. They already have us. No other options.

I am assuming this is the same crowd that spent a few days complaining that ND and/or Duke were screwed by the committee.
None of them will remember saying "UVA vs Maryland is the real NC game" after the MD final four games are much tougher than this one.

The camerawork on the Penn/Rutgers game is pretty poor. Still in the 1st quarter and 4-5 instances of the cameraman losing the ball for extended periods of time.

Not so sure. I'm getting sea sick, and the rest of the time the camera operator is not pointing their device at the person with the ball in their stick!
