They seem to be universally considered the second-best team in the country, and they might be...but personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they had an early exit and didn't make the Final 4.

Their deficiencies on offense were certainly exposed today. They relied on Trippi to initiate everything, and Watson blew a number of easy scoring chances. Haley is a great passer but too slow to do anything with that skill against quality opposition. Defense played well for the most part but the offense let them down. I expect they will be active in the transfer market again.

To steal a line about the legendary Grove at Ole Miss, Brown may lose some games, but they never lose a tailgate. Stevenson Pincince field was absolutely feeling single and seeing double on Saturday night. Terry Foy from Inside Lacrosse said: "The story of this game is the environment. The 3,200 fans were electric." The place was truly rocking and was a sellout at that number. Given some looser gate checks, even more fans streamed in for the second half. Brown topped the Ivies in attendance. Here are the figures from this weekend:
Virginia at Brown 3,200 (sold out)
Ohio St. at Cornell 2,149
Richmond at Penn 2,061
St. Joe’s at Yale 1,400
BU at Princeton 1,037

At the three games outside Ivy venues this weekend, Rutgers had amazing numbers thanks to graduation taking place next door to the lacrosse game. Georgetown may have borrowed ticket counters from Fenway Park, since the TV images did not show 1,800+ attendees.
Harvard at Rutgers 5,212
Vermont at Maryland 2,672
Delaware at Georgetown 1,873

The two playoff games in this round hosted by Ivies in 2019 drew these numbers.
Army at Penn 2,218
Georgetown at Yale 1,689

Brown State abides! (Or imbibes.)

The Brown State total also fails to count the 150+ fans, many former players, standing in the parking lot at the north end of the field, looking over/through the fence.

Good point!

And best of luck to the remaining Ivies this weekend. Sadly, only three at most can advance to Hartford.

Based on the Brown claims about fanbase, I thought I'd dig into the facts and look at the Ivy league regular season home attendance numbers. They might surprise you. Harvard drew great crowds all year, and their move into the smaller lacrosse/soccer stadium made for a great venue (especially the inclusion of the "Crimson Pub", which, in fairness, was a tent, but at least it served beer and wine).

1 Harvard 1,365.5
2 Yale 1,294.9
3 Princeton 1,189.9
4 Penn 1,187.8
5 Brown 551.5
6 Cornell 482.0
7 Dartmouth 306.1

Rutgers had 4,500 for the PSU game. While graduation may have helped a little bit, it was more the team is playing well and what was at stake. While Rutgers fans showed out, Harvard brought a nice contingent of people to the game. Credit them also.

1766---Yurcak is a great venue, from the parking/tailgating access to the hill for the fans on the opposite side of the benches. I guess everyone is afraid to get dirty on grass these days, but it sure seems like a great place for lacrosse.

It's a great venue. The benefactor, Ron Yurcak, was a lacrosse AA from the 60's, who also had a distinguished military career. It's been deemed to be used for soccer now. Playing on that surface in Feb./March isn't ideal. I am not sure why they won't play games later in the Spring or as weather permits.

However, there are plans already developed for the a lacrosse only stadium next to Yurcak. It will be a fantastic facility once it's built. 5,000 seats with the ability to get to 8K or so in order to host NCAA quarterfinal games. The field will be surrounded by seats making it great for viewing as well as looking good on tv. It will be turf not grass so you won't into weather challenges.

Point taken, but also seems like a smoke screen to avoid a discussion about Dartmouth's attendance.

Hey, it’s like a gazillion % higher than Columbia Men’s lax attendance!

What is the day and time for the Cornell game. I need to know how much beer to buy. Early game, probably 2 sixes, and late game, at least 3 and a win, I will need 4.

I had at least a six or possibly 2 after the Cornell win against OSU and my local store almost was sold out of Flower Power after I bought mine.

Spending all his time coming up with at least 1000 excuses as to why Virginia got obliterated by Maryland as follows:
1. Effing IVY league got overseeded and screwed my Cavs.
2. Effing Donna Woodruff screwed my Cavs.
3. Effing committee left out Duke and ND and that screwed up my Cavs bracket.
4. Effing fanlax forum A-holes influenced the brackets and screwed my Cavs.
5. Effing MD has all those transfers

.
1000. Effing Maryland is just better than my.........Nope, can't do it, the WHOLE UNIVERSE screwed my Cavs.

Posted similar thoughts in the GTown thread before the tournament. Folks were (understandably) not convinced. To me their shooting percentage was what stood out the most... and then it came back to bite them against the Hens.
