Take the top vote-getter from each position, then vote. I think it's ranked 1-3 or something like that, can't remember the exact details in that regard. If a coach has multiple players eligible for POY voting, he can elect to only have one up for consideration so as to prevent splitting the vote.
So really most years it's going to come down to your top attack, middie, defender, and goalkeeper vying for the POY. And chances are, one of those four is likely going to be eliminated from the discussion by their coach.
Re: ODAC 2022
Duffy crushes the most beers that is why he is player of the year. Clogget crushes a lot of beers too which is why he is first team. A player that I think got snubbed was Andrew Shanley from HSC. He crushes a lot of beers, he should’ve been first team.
Re: ODAC 2022
W&L doesn’t crush beers, besides McCabe, he crushes so much he got a dui

Re: ODAC 2022
Taking a totally different take on this. They played a solid game against HSC overall, but 19 saves along with 4-5 pipes took them down. If the O gets to 10 or 11 they can do this. Another posters comments on Cabrini games below. I’m taking the Generals because of their DUnclepeter wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 12:04 am Would have to think the generals are not ready for the big stage after last weeks defeat. Despite having comparable talent and skill to Cabrini, it’s hard to think they will be able to recover after last weeks emotionally draining loss to HSC. Difficult to keep a whole team to buy back in after most thought their season was probably over. Excited to see the gennies in the tournament but not expecting any wins!
Here's the list of those wins:
• beat Colorado College by 1 (IWU beat them by 7, Grove City and Sewanee by 8, Stevenson by 9)
• beat Scranton by 2 (Muhlenberg beat them by 4, Catholic by 9, Elizabethtown by 11, Salisbury by 20)
• beat Hampden-Sydney by 2 (Roanoke beat them by 4, W&L by 6, CNU by 12)
• beat Cortland by 3 (St. Lawrence beat them by 6, SJF by 12, RIT by 15)
• beat DeSales by 3 (Arcadia beat them by 7, Stevens by 9, F&M by 13)
• beat Haverford by 4 (Ithaca beat them by 6, Muhlenberg by 9, Gettysburg by 10, Dickinson by 12)
• beat Eastern by 4 (Swarthmore beat them by 3, Misericordia by 4, Gettysburg by 12, York by 15, Stevenson by 16)

Re: ODAC 2022
I’m taking the Generals because of their D. They will give Sags shots he can see. Also thought Perry had a crazy good day and kept his head in the game unlike vs. LYN who shelled him and he clearly was frazzled.
W&L O has been coming along and with this 2nd life are pumped to prove themselves. Witherall need to go off!
Have to jump on Cabrini early and keep the peddle down.
NOKE has a taller order. Vs GBurg. They need FOs and good possessions of it could get out of hand..I think they can score but defense just not there this year
LYN has to travel almost the full 600 miles..
Thinking they will handle WNE and match up well vs Union.. McCann is 6’4” 220 but LYN has seen Clagett and Duffy so they can contain him.. need a very good team defense game and Hadley will need 12-15 saves.. FOs battles will be key. Kraus has improved but has a tendency to TO clean wins or piss away exchanges. I suspect Union knows it and will also double pole the wings..
The oddest think about LYN this year has been Brett Rogers. After getting hurt at Mustang and gutting it out in Tufts game Coach K created the 2nd mid line with him McCarthy and Nate Shaffer (also returned from injury who is a converted attackman who can dodge hard to goal and distribute). This gives them 2 very solid lines with little drop off but… Rogers was. AA honorable mention last year shooting 25% and seems less aggressive since returning. Union will have their hands full with Lewis and Kenny and Mitchell and Wolfe on 1st line mid.. Rogers must have a stellar weekend for LYN to get last Union..
Good luck to all ODAC teams

Re: ODAC 2022
Rather a paltry list for the ODAC conference in the All American department. Congratulations to those that did make it,well done. Hopefully the conference picks up next year and we see multiple teams in the top 20. Good luck to W&L, Lynchburg and Roanoke in the tourney
Re: ODAC 2022
USA lacrosse magazine isn’t the official All American publisher that most people follow, just another magazine giving its opinion. USILA’s list will be much more different and won’t have the same player on 2 different AA teams if I had to guess.
Re: ODAC 2022
And just like that, no more ODAC teams left in the tourney.

Well that was a disappointing performance from the ODAC in the tourney. Roanoke had a 56-40 shot advantage and lost somewhat comfortably while W&L got outshot 55-24 in a game with the same score...

Re: ODAC 2022
Do we think the problem with the ODAC is the recruiting? I mean if you look at the schools that are beating ODAC teams, they lack the toughness of the kids from the bigger northern schools. Ya around here the players are tough but lacrosse up there is just more developed and more of a culture. Should the coaches be recruiting from up there more or should they focus on getting Private school kids from around here along with kids from up there. It really is a question not trying to start an argument.
Re: ODAC 2022
Interesting question I don't think the ODAC has much of a problem maybe this was just a bad year or bad matchups in the Tournament. Over half of CNU's roster is from VA with relatively few from the northeast (MA,NY,CT,NJ). I am not drawing any conclusions from this, it is simply and observation.Laxfan4380 wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 2:00 pm Do we think the problem with the ODAC is the recruiting? W&L gets kids from all over. Lynchburg has a bunch of kids from the MD area. Roanoke has kids from 21 states.

I am confused by the original post. Is the question that maybe the ODAC is down because they recruit too many in state players?
1. They are not recruiting more than one or two per school for the most part each year. Look at the 2022 class this holds true.
2. The instate players in VA are = to NJ, CT, maybe not quite NY and MD but still 30 D1 payers v. 40 D3 players in the 2022 class.
If anything I think the ODAC schools should do a better job recruiting in state players.

OSVAlacrosse wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 11:04 amMy take was the original post suggested that the ODAC needed to recruit more from "northern" schools. My response was I don't think the ODAC has a problem at all and there are great players all over. I used CNU as an example that they have very few "northern" (MA, CT, NY, NJ) players, that more than 1/2 of their roster is from VA and they are doing just fine. Obviously, CNU is not in the ODAC just using them as an example.Laxdds wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 2:11 pmInteresting question I don't think the ODAC has much of a problem maybe this was just a bad year or bad matchups in the Tournament.
