2) They assumed that Cuse would be strong as ever (it wasn't).
3) They thought that they might beat Georgetown, Maryland, OSU or Virginia. They did not win any of those games.

5) They played 12 games, and could have scheduled a few additional OOC games.
These were all logical bets to make. This year, they didn't turn out for them. The rules of RPI plus quality wins are the same as ever. Rutgers 2016, Cornell 2019, and other teams have met the same fate. ESPN and IL folks stirring things up is neither constructive nor sportsmanlike.

Maybe they should split a case of Genny Cream with Joe Willie when they set out their seasonal plan next year...Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 11:29 pmThat’s ND yearly strategyfaircornell wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 11:21 pm Notre Dame is a good team, but their coaching staff took some risks this year, with eyes wide open:

Can’t speak for the others but you know Cuse/Bart isn’t going anywhere because it’s a 100yr old trophy game (trophy is only 40 or so years old but the Cuse/Cornell/Bart triangle won’t ever go away-yea I used an absolute word there). Cuse sorta doesn’t matter this year anyway. Bart just needs to do better in being a line on an at larges team ideally as a good loss for said team)jrn19 wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 11:27 pm The entire ACC scheduled with an assumption they’d all win their OOC games like last year and that it’d boost their #’s like last year and they’d be easy cases
Virginia: Outside of Maryland, second best non-con opponent was…Richmond? No Ivy teams. No Georgetown or Denver. No B1G outside MD/JHU. It was rather weak.
Duke: So many games. But no B1G teams. Only 1 Ivy League team. Best 3 leagues aside from ACC were B1G/Ivy/Big East…Duke scheduled 2 games vs those 3 leagues and 9 games vs everyone else
North Carolina: 2 B1G in OSU/Hop. 1 Ivy in Brown. 1 Big East in Denver. Not bad; but also scheduled Colgate, Bellarmine, High Point.
Syracuse: Maryland and Cornell strong. After that…next best is Army and then Hobart?
Notre Dame: Strong schedule with MD/GTown/OSU. I know they have it tough with trying to get teams to come to south bend. However, ultimately, they scheduled 0 Ivy teams in a dominant Ivy year.
ACC also needs to go back to the tournament and drop the 6 conf games if they want to not just play 4. UVA and ND woulda been better off with not having played Syracuse twice and playing a better team. Imagine ND gets a second crack at UVA and not Cuse.

Thanks as obviously your memory is better than mine. Yup, that was it The Thirsty Bear, the Bar itself was small but the area around it with all the chairs tables, and small couches was spacious and on the nights, with specials, it was mobbed. The Noyes Center Pub had a pinball machine I loved so I used to spend a lot of time there, also. I think each game was a dime. Great times.

Quint: Look, those Eggheads are good at being President, landing robots on Mars, and making great supreme court justices but they just suck in Lacrosse.
Host: Well Quint, their OOC record was the best in D1.
Quint: PLEASE don't bring up bogus effing facts. We conclusively proved that every 1 goal win by those stuck up bastards was complete luck.
Host: You know Quint, your butt-kissing ACC got only one team in and it wasn't even seeded?
Quint: look, us ACC guys don't need some stinking Ncaa tournament to prove that we can beat ANY damn team with RPIS greater than 50, and that Woodruff broad better go back to cooking dinner and bringing her old man a Reingold whenever he wants one.
Host: well Quint, this has certainly been enlightening and by the way, how are you spending your Memorial day weekend.
Quint: I'm making Dolls of EVERY IVY COACH, especially that Buccek dude from Cornell and sticking pins in him, every time his worthless team scores a goal.
Host: thanks Quint, and tell crack and anus, I said hello.

There’s a very simple riposte to any claim that the ACC got jobbed - how many OOC top-ten wins did UVa, ND, and Duke combine for? Zero.
By the way, did you catch the Reingold reference? Every time I hear that awful beer, I think of Ralph Kiner and Lindsey Nelson.

No one cares what those goofs say. Especially the selection committee.
Most people are yawning over this year's tournament field, but there is little sympathy for the ACC who has jobbed the system for years.
